I can live with Arthur Lynch for 4th Round if we find a good OLB earlier. umm.

Carl Bradford reaches 250 so I could like him for 3rd if his value turns out a real deal.

FS in 1st, WR in 2nd, OLB and WR in 3rd, and TE in 4th sould be a trick.

Hopefully there's some guys at positions that aren't huge needs/great fits that go above the Jets. I think it's pretty much a lock that Bortles/Bridgewater/Manziel go earlier at QB, Robinson/Matthews at T, Watkins at WR, and Clowney/Mack as pass rushers go before the Jets pick. Wouldn't say lock but pretty likely that Lewan, Evans, Barr, and Ebron are gone before the Jets pick as well.

It'll be really helpful if guys like Carr, some of the DT's (Nix/Jernigan/Donald - far from a need) or DB's (Dennard, Gilbert, Clinton-Dix - I question fit for the DB's and value to the scheme for the safeties) go before the Jets pick to maybe push some of those higher tier guys down. Or a Mosley who isn't really a need as an ILB or Ealy who may not be a great fit but likely drops anyway based on how he ran today. I still have a sneaking suspicion Barr slips.
Ryan does not value FS that high because he does not use FS to cover larger area. Now, Idzik may want to find a FS that can cover a larger area and offers run support Ryan likes. Pryor or Reynolds or maybe Ward is ideal for Jets to covet.

Think Jets will trade up and get either Evans or Watkins if they become available after 7th? Outside top 5, trade value usually requires a small token to be done.

Don't rule CB out. Just in case if Jets lose Cromartie to another team.

Dennard or Gilbert for 18th can be done.

I don't know if Bradford has the length that Ryan would want in a full-time OLB, and they already have Barnes as a pass rush specialist.

True Idzik might, but I think you draft guys to fit a scheme. Going for a FS pretty high might indicate a goal to move on down the road. I'd be very happy with Ward on day 2.

I don't think they'll move up, but I wouldn't mind. Jets need someone on offense that defenses need to account for.

I think it makes sense if there's a good fit, but I'm not sure I see the fit. Dennard I don't think has ideal length or athleticism for the scheme, but maybe he shows well athletically tomorrow. Gilbert may be an option but he's pretty raw as far as I understand. I'd rather see him off the board before the Jets pick than end up a Jet. I'm also tired of corners, but that's my concern there.

Gilbert's draft profile sounds an awful lot like how Cromartie has been as a pro. They could draft Gilbert in the first, essentially redshirt him and have Cromartie mentor him. Corner is very likely going to be a pressing need next year anyway.

I am also tired of drafting two positions in the first round year in and year out, but it's entirely possible. Especially if Ebron and Evans are off the board.

As far as trading up, there are a 10-11 receivers I wouldn't mind seeing the Jets draft in the first two rounds. And another 3-4 in the third. So I definitely do not want the Jets to trade up for a WR.

I think I answered my thoughts on the Cro/Gilbert thing in the other thread. We'll see, part of it is certainly me being hopeful, but it just doesn't seem like the right move. With the lack of corners on the roster I think the play is vet and maybe a third-fifth round guy to develop and add depth.

As far as trading up goes, to me there's a big gap between Watkins/Evans and the rest of the class. And a superstar on offense would be awesome. So if the think Watkins/Evans could be a superstar, then I'm okay with it because there is that substantial gap there. I really like a bunch of guys, but they're the two with that upside to transform an offense so I'd be okay with rolling the dice on that. But trading up for the third WR to go in the draft I'd be upset about.

Yeah, it's more about hitting than simply how many picks we have to fill holes, but you can surely get a star beyond the early 1st. I kind of just get the feeling we'll take Ealy or a WR/Ebron in the 1st, but that's just me. Also, Jimmie Ward's name comes to mind, but I don't know why. That would be a hard sell, unless he blows up his Pro Day. Just a feeling on these. No basis behind all that.

As for Gilbert, I think he's terribly overrated and not athletic enough for it to matter. I see his ceiling as Terence Newman, but I don't really think he'll even be that good. And unless you're Dez Bryant, there's just something that seems overrated about most the Ok St players (not an Okung fan). There's at least something up with them. For one, I don't know a Ok St player that went on the first two days the last handful of drafts that hasn't been injury-prone. Not sure why.

As for Dennard, his lack of size and athleticism will almost assuredly bump him down to the late 1st or even 2nd. He's solid, but I kind of doubt they will take him. It just wouldn't make much sense.

Interesting names, not sure which round, I think are Telvin Smith and Christian Jones. I think we like to latch on to top performing units in college, so they may be two guys we take a look at. They both present mismatches, as Jones could be dynamic as an ILB. Smith might be able to play SS. If they moved them around a lot, I feel like they would bring a lot of explosiveness to our defense.

Players I kind of feel like will go to these places but really don't want to... Mack or Evans to Buffalo... Ealy or Moncrief to the Pats... pretty much anyone I like to the Fins, since they always do that...

Also, random note. Heard we're high on Portland State RB DJ Adams. Maryland transfer. He put up 139 and 2TDs against Cal this year, so that's not bad. Also named PSU's most inspirational player. Seems to have prototypical size, solid hands, and some shiftiness/vision to him. Couldn't dig up much though. I know people that go to Portland State though so if that pick becomes a late-round reality I'll probably find out more about him.

It'll be interesting to see if now with a year under his belt Idzik will take a page out of the Seahawks' drafting ways and go against the grain a bit. After seeing our last draft, and we'll see how this next one goes, but I kind of get the sense that we'll be drafting guys with a certain mentality. I feel like Idzik is building with those swaggerlicious, physical, confident guys, maybe based on what the Hawks did, but also to embody Rex's coaching style. Just a hunch. We'll see how this draft goes.

And piggybacking off that idea, I think after the effort towards creating turnovers this past season, I see us looking for playmakers in that sense on the defensive side of the ball.

It will be interesting to see if they go against the grain this year. To an extent they did last year too, no one saw the Richardson pick coming. Turnovers on the defensive end would be great, wonder if they address that more in FA than the draft. I'm curious to see what they draft at corner - they'll draft one eventually, just hopefully not in the first. Emphasis on that Seattle style length?

My suspicion right now is that Barr slips to the Jets and they take him. Sounds like he's falling some but I think he really fits nicely. Length, athleticism, ability to get after the QB but also play in space. Raw but he can come into a situation where he plays behind Pace a bit and eventually takes over since I presume they re-sign Pace. Plus playing behind that DL and with a strong defensive coaching staff - supposedly the intangibles are good and I think there's a lot of upside as he adds bulk and learns what he's doing.

That said I'd also be quite happy with Trent Murphy on day 2 as an OLB as well. Again has that length, performed well in the explosiveness and agility drills that are relevant for pass rusher, and was very productive at Stanford. Think he could play more right away than Barr and he could come in and be quite productive in that clean up role that Pace was so productive in last year behind that sick DL. Not going OLB would be fine too, but post-combine those are the two names that jump out at me.

The more I have thought about it, the more I see the Jets first round pick being an absolute wildcard.

They could go corner. They could take Justin Gilbert and sit him for a year while Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson finish their respective runs with the Jets.

They could go safety. Even if they bring Ed Reed back, he's at best a part time player and a short term solution. Ha ha Clinton Dix could give the Jets a long term solution at free safety.

They could go outside linebacker. Lord knows they've needed to for years. They could draft Anthony Barr should be continue to fall down draft boards. He would give the Jets the top notch pass rushing linebacker that Rex had in Baltimore but for some reason has not tried to attain with the Jets.

They could go inside linebacker and draft C.J. Mosley. This would allow the Jets to either part ways with David Harris and his 5 million dollar salary this year or keep him for this season and let him leave via free agency next year. I was astonished to find out he ran a 4.6 40 at the combine because I don't recall ever thinking he was particularly fast as a Jet.

They could draft Eric Ebron at TE. For the past 10 years we've seen a golden age of TE's in the NFL and despite adding a player who was once thought of as part of that (Kellen Winslow Jr.), the Jets have not really participated in this renaissance. I'm thinking this is less and less likely because I don't think Ebron's going to be there at #18.

They could draft a whole host of offensive linemen. The Jets' right tackle and right guard are free agents. The Jets left guard was sort of a weak link this past year. As much as we'd like the Jets to bring Willie Colon and Austin Howard back, the Jets could look to upgrade one of those positions and use their free agency money elsewhere.

They could draft a quarterback. I hope they don't.

They could very well draft a receiver. But given all of these options in the first round and the sheer volume of receivers who would have been first rounders in other draft that will be available in the second round, I'm starting to lean towards they shouldn't in the first. If the Jets do draft a receiver in the first and second or first and third or even the first and the fourth depending who falls, I will be very happy with that.

There will be a whole lot more clarity come draft day on some of those spots. I'd be surprised if they go into the draft without starting options at corner, on the offensive line, and at safety. Those are positions I could see basically anywhere late day 2 or on day 3, but they aren't going to want to show their hand that they have needs at those positions.

It's the positions they band-aid that I'd watch out for though. They cut and re-sign Cro for one year and then I'll buy them taking a corner in the first. If they sign him to a 3 year deal I'd look more day 2, day 3. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Lankster, Trufant, and Walls too. Safety I still don't think they value. Maybe day 2, but I think they're content to strut out scrubs there. We'll see if they show any interest in the top tier safeties in FA and strike out - that'd indicate to me there may be increased value with Idzik here. Right tackle comes off the board in the first if they sign Howard for multiple years, one year I could see a competition and a long-term successor for Brick drafted in the first. Guard maybe Zach Martin is a first round guy, aside from that there's not a whole lot. I'd imagine they'd like to see Aboushi or Campbell start but they'll sign a vet to compete with them as a safety net. I could see a few late round guys to improve depth and add competition similar to last year.

Ebron I agree is gone and I tossed out why I'd be unhappy about Mosley. They never do what I think they should, though. We'll see, but that front 7 gets more and more crowded and still doesn't have a legit edge rusher.

Also re WR, I'd take two guys on day 2 over a guy in the first and nobody until the late rounds (or just one period). I could see Moncrief as a wild card pick at 18.

Donald numbers qualify OLB so taking him in 1st round would make sense. lol.

I have been wrestling on taking OT in 1st for a while. Since Jets switched to MBS, Ferguson has been weak pass protector, I could see LT as a need. However, due to his cap salary, Jets won't cut him until after 2015 season.

Unless Jets fail to re-sign Howard, LT won't be a need as a back up plan until next draft.

Admittedly, failing to re-sign Howard will raise a concern because I don't want to draft OT in first 3 rounds at all.

I am somewhat disappointed in Reynolds and Pryor because they did not do 20y shuttle and 3 cone. I want to know whether or not they are a legit first rounders now not next month. Screw them for making me wait.

E.J. Gaines could be a steal in 4th round for FS duty but I am pretty sure there are several teams will covet him as CB by 4th round.

Really, FS plan is the most difficult thing to fantasize. Ugh!

CB winner is Rashaad Reynolds.
OLB winner is Khalil Mack.
DE winner is Jadeveon Clowney.
DT winner is Aaron Donald.
S winner is Brock Vereen.

DE/OLB Larry Webster could be a nice developmental prospect for Ryan. umm

I set up pool of prospects I like for a said round.

I rank from best value to overdraft. Trade Up means Jets make a trade up to get top one just in case if Jets do it.

For 1st Round

1. QB - Teddy Bridgewater - Trade Up.
2. FS - Hasean Clinton-Dix - Trade Up.
3. WR - Mike Evans - Trade Up.
4. WR - Sammy Watkins - Trade Up.
5. OT - Greg Robinson - Trade Up.
6. OT - Jake Matthews - Trade Up.
7. FS - Calvin Pryor
8. WR - Odell Beckham
9. WR -Brandin Cooks
10. FS - Ed Reynolds
11. OG - Zach Martin
12. WR Jordan Matthews

I think I am satisfied with 12 choices for 1st Round without 3 top OLB and 2 top TE. As for 2nd Round, it may be a mess up if Jets use it for 1st Round Trade Up package as well as 1st Round leftover will be marked as a BPA.

For 2nd Round

1. BPA - Trade Up.
2. CB Kyle Fuller
3. TE C.J. Fiedorowicz
4. OT Morgan Moses
5. OLB Dee Ford - Trade Up.
6. S Jimmie Ward
7. S Deone Bucannon
8. OLB Chris Smith
9. WR Martavis Bryant - Trade Up?.
10. ILB Yawin Smallwood
11. RB Charles Sims.

4 Guards I like for 2nd round but there are about 5-8 more G I like for after 4th so for the sake of ranking, 4 Gs are listed between Bryant and Smallwood.

Why exclude them? Especially if you're going to include guys like Bridgewater, Watkins, Robinson and Matthews.

Because I am not crazy about taking them in the 1st round. I have to mention those 5 because they are clearly high grade prospects for Jets in general. I will be compelled to add those ominous prospects once free agency is slowing down.

Robinson and Matthews are depending on Howard situation. Getting one of them to play RT for 2 years before Fergueson becomes cap casualty after 2015 season. This is for now. Once Howard gets contract from Jets, I will cross them off.

I just played fan speak out draft simulator for 4 round. 3 different methods.

BPA -
1. WR Mike Evans - 2nd BPA. 1st WR.
2. CB Kyle Fuller - 2nd BPA. 1st CB.
3. OLB Chris Smith - 1st BPA.
3. TE Troy Niklas - 3rd BPA. 1st TE.
4. RB Charles Sims - 2nd BPA. 2nd RB (Sankey).

Receiving Power- (Skip FA for Draft)
1-18. TE Eric Ebron - 14th.
2-49. CB Kyle Fuller - 38th.
3-69. WR Jared Abbrederis - 76th.
3-80. WR Donte Moncrief - 83th
4-111. OLB Marcus Smith - 72th.

Defense Power- (Sign WR Sanders, TE and WR)
1. FS Hasean Clinton-Dix - 21st or 22nd?
2. SS Deone Bucannon - Overdraft.
3. CB Stanley Jean Baptiste - About right value.
3. OLB Marcus Smith - Good value.
4. WR Donte Moncrief - Steal.

I had this crazy weird dream where we drafted a QB named Briney Evans in the 1st. He was 6'5" 315 lbs lol. Everyone was making fun of us. So I think it's an omen of either a QB, Mike Evans, or a really random pick... but hopefully instead it's someone I like. I probably have issues if I'm starting to dream about the draft.

There is a dreambusting news for you. In two years later, he wants 25m annually. lol.

Sounds like a JaMarcus Russell nightmare.

Donte Moncrief impressed on Pro Day so I don't have any confidence in him being available for 3rd round.

Word is we're doing a ton of homework on Garoppolo, but when that's public knowledge, generally we don't end up with those guys.
