No way. He's head and shoulders more physically gifted but I think he'd be 3rd or 4th this year. Last year's QB class was a piece of ****. Manuel wasn't that good.

Buffalo can move up to #5 with Oakland and get Robinson/Mack. Reggie McKenzie can make a move like last year and get a 2nd and future pick.

They would not need to move up to the first pick to land Robinson. And it would probably be smarter for the Bills to sit at 9 and take Matthews or Lewan and keep their picks if they are looking for a LT.

As I've said for a while, and analysts are confirming today, I don't think Mike Evans will be on the board for the Lions at No. 10.

Apparently Buffalo and Houston are talking about the #1 pick .

Who's to say the Lions will stay at #10 and settle on Mike Evans?

I wouldn't mind trading up to it to secure the QB we want, but I feel like one of them could be there at 4.

I have this massive fear that we draft Watkins and snag Carr at 26.

The world laughs. I cry.

Whats going to happen is your going to take Watkins at # 4. Then knowing that someone will try to trade up ahead of them for Carr, they'll trade up into the teens to guarantee getting Carr. They are not going to be able to sit at 26 and get Carr. Someone like Jacksonville, Oakland, or Minnesota if they dont take a QB with their first rounder is going to be trying like hell to get up ahead of Cleveland at 26.

This is why its better for Cleveland to take a QB at # 4 because the draft is deep and they are in a very vulnerable spot if they think Carr is just gonna drop to 26. They either will trade up into the teens or have someone else swipe Carr out from under their noses.

Quote:
Lions coach Jim Caldwell said the team is looking for a pass-rushing outside linebacker and may address the position via the draft.
If Detroit chooses to spend an early pick on an edge-rushing OLB, UCLA's Anthony Barr may be the choice. The Lions have devoted a lot of scouting hours to Barr, and GM Martin Mayhew met with Barr before his Pro Day earlier this month. Barr began his college career as an offensive player, but recorded 23.5 sacks in only two years after switching to linebacker.
Is he being honest or a smokescreen in hopes that other teams try and move into the top 10 to land Barr (and push someone down to them like Gilbert, Lewan, Matthews or Evans ?).

I think he's being honest. They need sack production and the new DC has a 3-4 background.

But also this:

Quote:
"I think the depth of the draft is obviously a factor, in terms of you start thinking about trading up, what are you missing out on?" Mayhew said. "But sometimes the guys are elite players who are difference-makers.

"If you're picking 10, and there's five elite players, and you can get one of those guys (in the top five), we think there's value in (doing that)."

Louis Nix seems to be falling on everyone's DT rankings and top 25 rankings.

The Ra'shede Hageman hype train seems to be slowing.

I am wondering who people think could be the likely 1st round surprises or guys who go higher than we think?

Kyle Fuller seems to be on the rise.

I don't think Nix is falling much, he's the 3rd DT simply because he is a run stuffer in a NFL where the pass rules, so Donald and Jernigan, 2 potential pass rushing DT are ranked ahead of him. I won't be shocked if a 3-4 team takes him ahead of those 2.

As for surprises, I've narrowed my choices down to 2. Jimmy Garoppolo, who has the quickest release I've seen in a long time and if he didn't have small hands, might be in the conversation as a top 10 pick, and Brandin Cook, who I absolutely love for his potential. I think he is a Steve Smith clone.

I do agree that Fuller seems to be on the rise.

Cooks
Benjamin
Adams
Ebron
Amaro
ASJ
Matthews
Robinson
Lewan

So I count 48 players to fill 32 spots. Anyone I've missed?
- I agree with you about Scott Crichton. I can't really explain or quantify it, I just have this gut feeling that he'll sneak into the last 5-6 picks of round 1. I'm currently working on a 3 round mock, and I have the Broncos picking him at #31.

- By Martin I assume you mean Zack Martin, yes? If thats the case, I'd like to ad Kareem Martin, the defensive end from North Carolina, as well as Demarcus Lawrence from Boise St. Both play a premium position, and has some nice physical tools to work with. Could see one of them sneak into round 1.

I did mean Zack Martin, although I'm willing to add more players. Looking to find every player who we think has a chance of going in the first

Daniel Jeremiah reporting he hasn't spoken to one NFL exec who has Stanford OG David Yankey rated in the first 3 rounds - interesting that he's Mayock's #1 guard.... Cyril Richardson's stock has been on the decline as well since the Senior Bowl - might be one or two surprises at the position on day two then!

Never really understood the hype with Cyril. He's a big dude, but he's a pretty average football player. 4th rounder if I was in charge.
