Payne Train
I just made this thread so in a couple years when he's won the Heisman and is a top 5 pick you can at one time say you knew of him before he was a star. Keith Payne aka Payne Train UVA's Redshirt Freshman starting tailback coming into the year is ready to explode onto the scene, I worked with him his junior year in improving his speed and now he is primed and ready for greatness, physically he is a rare specimen that would put Adrian Peterson to shame. He is 6-3" 250 pounds with 4.4 speed. He is an extremely powerful runner as he can bulldoze defenders and has breakaway speed and receiver hands. I will never forget watching him his senior year at the VA state Title game he rushed for 250 yards and 4 TD's while shadowing on defense Percy Harvin the entire game who was held to a career low 49 yards receiving and no TD's. The kid is an animal and is ready to be one of the best, just thank me for letting you know about him before anyone else, you can start pimping him now, here is a clip of him in high school he is #1, since then he has put on more weight and now runs much lower to the ground which will help him in the future with injury problems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbznzeQkO-M , you will wanna start the clip after 1:35. After being redshirted last year with Seniors Jason Snelling and Michael Johnson Al Groh had to do his best not to put Payne in there avoiding temptation so he would not lose his redshirt year, in a testament to his hardwork Payne was named the scout team MVP as coaches told him he had to take it easy as he bowled over players even like Chris Long.
Great Article on him on how he already has a cult following and is getting "Chuck Norris/Superman comparisons": http://www.dailyprogress.com/servlet...1&path=!sports

He wasn't highly recruited as he played northern va football which is never looked at well as southern virginia and virginia beach area and Hampton area where Vick and Iverson are from is legendary in football but northern virginia football rarely produces great players that's why when he lead Oakton to the state title over Percy Harvin's powerhouse Landstown team it was one of the greatest upsets ever, but he still got offers from Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, Penn State, and Wake Forest but he was smart and loyal enough to go to UVA he wasn't a traitor like Ronald Curry. Many schools wanted him at LB because of his size but he is a running back through and through.

I knew about him last year. Looks to be one of the better running backs in the ACC.

He's saying he knew him last year, and he looks like he's gonna be one of ACC's best. I misinterpreted it the first time I read it too.

I read the first sentence and stopped. One of the requirements for winning the heisman is having a national championship caliber team. I could be wrong, but I don't think UVA has ever done that, at least not in football.

Actually I have really liked this kid since his junior year in high school. And actually being a National Championship caliber team is not actually a prerequisite for the Heisman, because Garrett Wolfe was in the race for the begining on the year and at the end of the year Colt Brennan was fifth in the voting, and I don't mean to knock on my boys but their teams are not National Championship caliber teams.
But yeah I really like this kid, he has wonderful size and the ability to both run away from tacklers and run over them. He will definitly be a heisman candidate, if not this year than the nexxt or at the latest his Junior year.

Of course Peerman is the starter, loyal senior Groh always does that just like last year starting Christian Olsen over Jameel Sewell until he came to his senses, Groh realizes that Payne is a Freshman eligibility speaking and Peerman is a hard working senior so Payne will get less carries to start the year off.
