Default Four Questions About the Draft

Here are four questions about the draft that I am most interested in getting your answers.

1. How many quarterbacks will be picked in Round 1?
2. Which team moves up the farthest in the first round?
3. What will be the biggest surprise that happens in the draft?
4. Which is the best quarterback from a smaller school in this draft -- Blake Bortles, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, or another QB?

1. I think there will be 4 because I still think Teddy goes in the very late first. The Texans could wait for him at 33, but I think it would be mutually beneficial to flip a late round pick over to Seattle or Denver so they get the 5th year option.

2. Could be the Browns. If they take Sammy Watkins at 4 and then two QBs go soon after, the Browns could start working the phones to get Derek Carr in the teens.

3. Not sure if this qualifies as a surprise but Weston Richburg goes near the end of the first.

4. Bortles

Default

1. 4
2. 49ers
3. Derek Carr goes in the top 10
4. Kind of a weird question. UCF isn't very small compared to Eastern Illinois. Of the guys you listed I'd say Bortles by default.

1-Three QBs

2-San Francisco

3-Bortles, Manziel, Carr, Garoppolo, and Mettenberger are all taken before Bridgewater. Don't really think it'll happen but I had to put something.

4-Blake Bortles, but I wouldn't call UCF a small school...it's the 2nd largest school in the United States.

1) I'd say 4, Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater and Carr.
2) I'd say the Rams who will trade #13 plus other picks to move up 6 spots in trading with Tampa Bay.
3) Houston takes Manziel over Clowney.
4) IMO, it is Garoppolo since Bortles doesn't come from a small school, but we won't know the answer on Garappolo for a couple of years.

UCF may not be small as far as enrollment, but the AAC is a mid-major conference and not one of the "big six".

Louisville played in the AAC last season so can we include Bridgewater? If so then he would be my pick.

Louisville isn't in the Big East anymore? Wow, they weren't there very long. I don't follow college much anymore.

They just spent the one year in the AAC and are headed to the ACC next year. The Big East is actually gone it basically became the AAC.

1. Four QBs
2. San Francisco moves up 21 spots. They package 30, 56, and 2015 2nd to the Bills for 9.
3. Cyrus Koundjio goes undrafted
4. Blake Bortles (although UCF is the second largest school in the country, is in the same conference as Louisville (yet you didn't include Bridgewater), was an automatic qualifier, and won a BCS Bowl so I don't know they qualify as a smaller school but I digress.)

Like it says above, I thought Lsv was still in the Big East. I kind of screwed up Q#4. But if you believe the panicing going on about Teddy falling, he could fall into the "another QB" category anyway. [LOL]

Who would their target be? Mike Evans?

Mike Evans or possibly a defensive back they love.

Yeah....same conference Louisville (Bridgewater) was in last year. Won a BCS bowl. AAC is one of the big six, what are you talking about?:

SEC
BIG XII
BIG Ten
Pac XII
ACC
AAC (formerly Big East)

The Big 6 doesn't exist anymore, it is now the Power 5 with the AAC being relegated to a mid-major conference like the Mountain West.

Oh, OK. They renamed the Big East. I didn't know that. There's our problem. That means UCF and UL aren't mid-majors.

I would still be following NCAA football if there was a chance that somebody besides a team from the South could win a national championship in the next one thousand years.

That's beside the point though.
The 6 automatic qualifying BCS conferences last year included the AAC.

UCF was in a BCS conference last year.
UCF has the 2nd largest enrollment.
UCF played in and won a BCS bowl.

They are not in the MAC or Conference USA anymore. They aren't a midmajor anymore. When you say "Small school QB" you can't include Bridgewater or Bortles.

Yeah, confusing stuff to keep up with the frequent realignment we've had lately in college football.

They are now, they weren't last year, but everyone knew that was changing within a year. That said they've become the third best program in the state of Florida.

4. Which is the best quarterback from a smaller school in this draft -- Blake Bortles, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, or another QB?
1. I'm rolling with 3 but 4 is a push.
2. In what terms are you talking about the farthest, because a team can only jump but so high if in the Top 10-15 already? Chicago Bears
3. Ryan Shazier in the Top 15
4. Blake Bortles

Still behind FSU in 2010, but at this point they have definitively passed Miami.
