Word Spelling Question....
This post is way out from left field, but since it involves a couple guys on this board, I figure I'd ask about it...
The word "favorite" has been spelled two ways on this board. I spell it favorite, but I've see guys like Moses spell it favourite. Maybe it's just a regional thing, where different parts of the world spell it differently.
I was just wondering if there's a correct way to spell it, or if both ways are ok. I've always wondered about it...
And no, there is not a point to this thread if you're wondering.... :D

Favorite is the way Americans spell it. Favourite is the way Canadians and others spell it, just like how they spell it colour.
I thought everyone knew this. :?

In English it's supposed to be favourite. America doesnt seem to like the use of the letter 'u' in a lot of words, colour being another one.
edit, ^^ great minds etc etc

Apparently not or I wouldn't be asking...
I just never was told why people spell them two different ways, so I asked....

Scott is from America, therefore it should be spelled "favorite" on his board. :D

Americans decided to change how a lot of words are spelled for some reason. Another interesting one is donut instead of doughnut.

Well, that actually means two different things. Being a theatre minor, A "theater" is the physical place. I am going to the theater to watch a play. "theatre" is the art. musical theatre. People often often misuse those two terms, but it isn't a regional thing.

American's spell the word favorite exactly as I just spelled it.
Europeans, specifically British, spell it as favourite.
