lebron needs to be assigned a "lebron-stopper" to be considered that good.
if lebron isnt good enough yet to get into the playoffs and get trash talked by reuben patterson, he isnt close to kobe.

I like Lebron more and would have picked him last year but Kobe has taken his game to another level while James has regressed alot. It pains me to watch Lebron now cause he used to look like the next Magic Johnson, now he's just another chucker.

Give em a couple years. Kobe, right when he was drafted was sent to a team where the demand was big and he had to grow and progress his game alot faster. LeBron is on a team where they are just happy to have him, they getting better but slowly, where as Kobe was drafted to a team who was to be known as one of the best Dynasties in NBA history.
A Perfect example would be Dwayne Wade. You on a team with some ballers, your gonna have to step your game up.

LEbron, he took a sorry team in his rookie year almost to the playoffs. And Remember, when Kobe was 21 he was nowhere near the production LEbron is putting up Right now, and Lebron is not even a finished product.

Yeah, Kobe did that with Shaq.
Lebron almost took a team, that was the worst in the league, to the playoffs the following season. That's pretty impressive. The Lakers won't be the same without a dominating big man such as Shaq. They're in the playoffs with Kobe, but barely.

I'll take LeBron.
- Took the worst team in the league to within 2-3 games of the play-offs in his rookie year.
- Averages 30.8 ppg (compared to Kobe's 34.8) but 6.6 assists, while Kobe only averages 4.6.
- Less talent around him, better record, in the tougher division.
- LeBron is 21, Kobe is 27.
- For those of you who say Kobe and his rings, count the rings he had when he was 21.

Very good points. However, I wouldn't necessarly say that LeBron has less talent around him. Big Z has made the All-Star game before. Eric Snow isn't great, but is solid. Same thing as Drew Gooden. Larry Hughes was a big difference maker for Cleveland. They're not too hot right now, and guess what... Hughes is out for the season. Hopefully he's back in time for the playoffs. Unless the Cavs complete miss the playoffs once again this seaosn.

Kobe is far better right now. People say Kobe is selfish, yet he has no other good-great player to help him, and every team needs more then one. We all know how he does with another great player to help him though (3 Rings hoe).

Kobe is clearly the better player right now. LeBron could eventually be better than Kobe, but he's going to need a partner in crime (Jordan had Pippen, Kobe had Shaq). It tough for a player like LeBron who excels when he's passing the ball when he has no major talents on his team.

how many players of shaq's caliber has lebron played with and/or kobe won a ring without?
that's the supiedest argument i've ever heard (over and over in this thread). until kobe wins one essentially by himself or the cavs suck with two superstars it has zero validity.

If I were starting a new franchise, LeBron easily. He is like 5 years younger and doesn't rape girls.

*shrug* and a 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs (which is, granted, better than lebron will have in a weaker conference, but no one mentions that, they just say "championship" over and over).
i'm unimpressed by a guy who is so ineffective at making his whole team better that he has to chuck up shots left and right because he's got no idea how to win a game any other way.

but when kobe arrived was shaq winning rings yet ? no.shaq needed kobe vice versa.Your example makes no sense.Lebron was supposed to be the next Jordan but when Kobe came in he wasn't hyped as much and he definitely wasn't suppose to be as good as he is.Lebron couldn't win a championship with shaq.

Yeah LeBron was supposed to be the next Jordan, but right now he is better than Jordan at this point in their careers. Right now while LeBron is putting up 30, 7, and 7 Jordan was playing college basketball. It's unfair to expect him to have put up Jordan-like numbers when he's 21. Jordan didn't put up Jordan like numbers until he was 23-24. I for one am not saying that LeBron will turn out to be better, or as good as, Jordan but you can't say he won't be for sure.

You got to think about this. The reason why Kobe was not as productive as LeBron at age 21, Lebron has people like Verajao, Illgauskas, and co while Kobe had to share with SHAQ! Bottom Line...
