You have to applaud Forrest, not afraid to fight the top notch guys. I am glad Shogun can get some fights, now I wonder, will the winner of Hendo VS. Rampage face Shogun assuming Shogun wins, or would there be other bouts for the fighters?

I too don't think it'll be a walk in the park for shogun. He's arguably the best LHW right now but his last couple fights, although he won, looked kind of sloppy. Also, it seems like a lot of pride guys are struglling a little bit to get use to the UFC. rampage vs. eastman was a gimme for rampage but he didn't look THAT good against him even though he KO'd him. And Cro cop's fight against eddie sanchez was also a gimme but his striking looked less dynamic than it usually does.
You guys might not agree but I also think nerves has a lot to do with it. The UFC puts a lot more significance and hype to each event unlike each pride event.
Also, the change of rules I think will be a big part to shogun's initial success.

The only thing Shogun can't do in UFC that he could in Pride was kicking people on the ground, so what if he can't get in 1 soccer kick a match it's not what makes him the best LHW in the world, he is the total package, great ground game, excellent striking, good takedown defense, and conditioning that is on par with anyone in MMA
and I guess you can call winning by decision struggling, only becasue he is that good & wins like 8% of hsmatches by 1st round TKO

really? i didn't know that.
probably not though, i heard UFC events aren't very good live because it's hard to see with the cage. Also all the drunk idiots that boo all the events would probably make me pretty mad.
Might change my mind being able to see shogun up close though.
are you going? you live in garden grove right?

Nandrolone is a natural substance that the body makes, im not sure how you wouldn't test positive for it, i guess maybe you could have a unnatural amount of it or something

he's going to be stripped of the title...
so im guessing BJ Penn is going to have to fight a number one contender for the belt like tito did. Gomi?

Unless they can get Gomi I think it will be BJ vs Huerta, which I wouldn't be shocked if Huerta pulled the upset

Huerta vs Garcia was one heck of a fight. Huerta always has great fights, Huerta vs Penn would be bananas.

how awesome would it be if they had a lightweight grand prix for the title?
they'd have to bring in gomi or aoki to level the playing field though, i would think.

BJ Penn vs Gilbert Melendez would be amazzzzzing a Gomi rematch would also be cool. Seeing two submission wizards in Aoki and Penn go at it would be sweet also. I think Huerta is the fight though because American audiences are somewhere familiar of him.

I dont see the big deal with Huerta tbh, low level of comp. and he hasnt looked amazing in beating them. Sorry, I think his #1 contender status has more to do with his tattoo than anything else. Aoki, Melendez, Gomi, Sakurai, and many others would be better options imo. BJ probably beats them all imo anyway, Gomi would probably be the most intriguing tho. I think BJ stands with Aoki and KO's him, He takes Melendez to the ground and subs him, it would be a great fight tho, Gomi fight is 50-50 imo, and I think he beats Sakurai decisively.

I don't think Huerta is at the level of guys like Gomi, Mach, Melendez, or Aoki, but he has beaten everyone that the UFC has put in front of him and with the exception Hendo, they normally make people fight a few times before they get a shot

Yeah, but the problem is that the UFC puts crap in front of him. In the UFC he has fought: jason dent, John Halverson, Leonard Garcia, and Douglas Evans. CRAP! And, he only has a 50% finish rate.......sorry not buying the hype, the tat is sweet tho.
