Anderson Silva needs to do the right thing and sleep with Lyoto Machida's wife so Lyoto can finally go to MW where he belongs and give us the best Anderson Silva fights we've seen. What I wouldn't give to see those two go after each other, two of the most precise strikers in MMA history and two of the best defensive strikers in MMA history, going head to head with no intention of anything other than knocking the other's head into the stands. T'would be epic.

That could actually be a horrific fight. Neither of them like to lead, so it may be a lot of them just standing there. That said, I would have Anderson by KO 9/10 times.

So if Sonnen wins the appeal, what happens? They fight again?

What did he appeal? The knee? If the knee is seen to be illegal then I'm pretty sure he can be retroactively disqualified. The knee was obviously clean though.

That's why I said that they need to sleep with the one another's wives, that way they'll be out for blood.

Hendo is great, but at no point in time can you say he was the best in any weight class he's ever fought in. You can't blame him since he bounced back and forth between 185 and 205, but he has never put together a string of dominance that makes you believe he's the best in his class. If he beats Jones that would be a huge deal, but even then he'd need to actually defend the title to be on the level of Anderson, GSP, Fedor, Hughes, and Chuck. It's one thing to win big, but to consistently do it against high level opponents the way those guys I listed did means a lot.

Plus Anderson demolished Hendo. You can talk about that takedown and smother in the first all you want, but Anderson beat him like he stole something in that second round. The fact that he's still the champ since then is crazy. This is a Joe Louis type reign Anderson is having. The guy's been champ so long that you take it for granted that so many guys have come and gone as champ since he beat Franklin back in 06. I think Joe Louis had the better reign since boxing is more developed and he was champ for 11 freaking years, but it's so many ways to lose in MMA that it's impressive a guy can stay champ for as long as Anderson has in a pretty decent weight class. Middleweight isn't as great as some others, but it has some very well rounded guys at the top like Franklin, Marquardt, Hendo, and Okami.

I'd be surprised if he won. But, if he did, it's a rematch that I just don't want to see.

"After reading the unified rules of MMA I can't find the definition of what is considered a knee strike. I can't really imagine a knee strike being limited to solely the area of the knee cap, bc clearly the area that can do damage is significantly larger. I think if it is ruled what happened last night to be a legal strike, then it will significantly change ground fighting as we know it.

If the strike that Anderson landed is legal then what is stopping me from getting a person in North/South position or a Front Headlock and kneeing an opponent with the area just above my knee cap. In every pre fight explanation I have ever heard this would be considered an illegal strike. So even though I am not directly hitting my opponent with my knee cap I think this would be a devastating technique.

I think what exactly a knee strike is should be more clearly defined, bc to me the striking region of the knee should be considered both a small distance above and below the actual knee cap."

A good quote from MMA fighter Ben Askren

If anyone else is watching the munoz weidman fight, I am disgusted with Josh Rosenthal. That was one of hte most brutal knockouts ive seen in a while and Rosenthal missed the initial elbow and then let 7-10 blows hit a completley out fighter.

I think Rosenthal wanted Munoz to die. Anyways Weidman is insane, great wrestling and bjj, solid technical striking. He's the future at MW when Silva retires.

Chael Sonnen said it best right now on the post show, Weidman looked like Jon Jones out there, wharfed Mark Munoz a big strong wrestler.

I know this is typical of mma fans but it certainly seems like there is an argument to be made that he could potentially be perfect to beat anderson beyond chael because he is a great wrestler and clearly has good bjj too. I was really impressed with his win over maia because of the circumstances and now he looked so great he deserves it. If he can turn over in the next few months, he can fight a guy like belcher, stann, or bisping and then give him the shot or if anderson can fight soon, just now. So impressive.

Also, its interesting that Longo and Serras guys have knocked guys out with elbows twice at a high level recently with Iaquntia's ridiculous elbow from tuf. Good work by them.

Lets not forget though that Munoz has the most freakish power in the UFC but that's his only skill. Wrestling sucks and i know he's a great college wrestler, bottom game sucks, boxing blows, slow as F, got KOed with a head kick vs Matt Hamill, nearly got knocked out by Kendall Grove, Damian Maia, and Yushin Okami. Not to mention Munoz is coming off an injury and looked incredibly out of shape tonight even Ksos said in an interview that Munoz blew up to 230 before training camp as he just ate himself out of shape. Still though can't ignore the greatness of Weidman tonight. Sick Bjj control and crazy technique on the KO.

Yeah, Munoz got a lot of play for beating some scrubs, getting a decision over a Demian Maia who was trying to be a striker for some reason, and a doped up Chris Leben. He's not a very good fighter. He's a gate keeper.

Weidman is a lot better than I thought he was, though. I'd like to see him fight Franklin, Sonnen, or Belfort (the guys below Anderson).

Big Country I mean Big Coach!

Quote:
Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight contenders Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin will serve as coaches on the 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter, and they'll meet in a season-ending fight in the show's live finale
UFC President Dana White exclusively revealed the coaches' selections to USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday

TUF, the UFC's long-running reality series, returns to FX in September, and taping begins next month. FX also will air the live finale from Las Vegas in December

"This is going to be a very interesting dynamic between these two heavyweights," White said. "They both have huge punching power and great chins, but outside of the octagon, they couldn't be any more different "These two have been going at it on social media for a while and don't seem to like each other very much, but they are going to be seeing a lot of each other during this series."

What in god's name was Rosenthal thinking letting that fight go on as long as it did? There has to be some kind of reprimand by the FC for that, that's ******* pathetic ref'ing.

I was working at the night of the fights. Just now watched the event, Weidman looked amazing. I also love how my boy Rafael Assuncao dominated as well. I've watched him train a lot recently and he looked great.

Am I the only one who watched Marquardt's vicious KO of Woodley? for a 4th round KO that has to be one of the best i've ever seen, so brutal. That was a FOTY candidate for me, Twood was game and better than I expected as I trash him a lot but damn what a fight. Marquardt is a force at WW to freaking bad that there is not many challenges for him in SF. Wish he signed with Bellator to beat Askren's ass.

I saw that. It was like a video game. His precision was crazy. I have trouble watching strikeforce though because there is no point to anything.

Good thing we're all so jacked up for this Faber/Barao PPV.. I will be watching, some intriguing fights on this card for sure.

I like Barao to catch Faber on their feet and finally finish Urijah for the first time by submission while dazed. Wouldn't bet my house on either guy though.

I'd definitely bet Lombard over Boestch

Jordan/Kongo is a gong show-knockout waiting to happen. No idea who wins that one.

Ebersole should dominate Head

Faber looked drained at the weigh in. Weight matters. He probably feels miserable right now. Also, Barao trained with Jose Aldo.

And I don't see how Lombard doesn't win. He's Silva's next opponent, but they can't just pair them up right after he enters the UFC.

Lombard could easily lose. He hasn't fought anyone and Boestch is solid and can finish fights.

I favor Barao over Faber, but I could easily see it going the other way (unlike a bunch of people).

All in all though, this is a pretty terrible PPV. It belongs on FX.

Barao is vicious, and is the favorite in my eyes, but Faber can beat anyone. I'm rooting for Boestch.

The only issue with Lombard is that he's been fighting cans for so long and Boetsch is as durable as they come. But still I've been saying for a while that Lombard is top 5 he just needs better competition. Great to finally see him in the UFC, I thought he'd rot away his career fighting cans forever. Lombard is typically just known for being a vicious knockout artist but don't forget that the guy has world class judo, his throws and slams are vicious, and the guy has powerful submission ability. With all that said even though Lombard is one of my favorite fighters I'm shockingly picking Boetsch via TKO in round 3. Lombard will rock Boetsch often in the first two rounds but Tim is tough as nails. If he can survive the storm and make it to the 3rd round I expect Lombard to have gassed by then and Timmy will TKO a gassed Lombard. Lombard's fall is if he can't finish a guy, so Tim has a real shot although most aren't giving him. I think this fight either ends via TKO round 3 for Boetsch, or by Lombard winning a UD in which the 3rd round he scores takedowns and lays on top. Tim will try to take him down but I don't see it happening. Of course Lombard could finish it any second, but those are the two likely scenarios I see.

As for Faber unless that weight cut absolutely killed him I will take him over Barao. Barao is a beast no doubt but I think he's slightly overhyped so soon much like Barboza and I don't think Barao is Aldo yet like he is being hyped to be. I wasn't overly impressed with him against Jorgensen who while top 10 isn't in Faber's class. Pretty much I think Faber beats everyone in the division other than Dominick who they are so even. Faber will score takedowns on Barao and win a UD. And yeah I know he has great bjj but don't be shocked to see Faber sink a guillotine late.
