Here's a question for debate. What do we want in a new quarterback? Do we want the big time arm or do we want the smart decision making? Do we want pocket presence or mobility?
Personally with the speed we have at WR I feel we need a big time arm to sling it deep. We're never going to win by going 4-5 yards at a time. Mobility might be a big factor too considering we have some of the worst OTs in football. I was doing a 2010 Bills mock and I was strongly considering Dan LeFevour in the 3rd round.

Imo, we need a quarterback who will bring a swagger to this team...
A player that other players are gonna fight for on Sundays...
Big arm. Keeps his eyes downfield and always makes plays...
If Clausen comes out, i would say him. Aside from that. Im really not sure. Tony Pike isnt much of a leader. Bradford im not sure about.
As much as a Dbag CLausen is portrayed to be. U cannot deny the fact his teammates respect him, and play hard with him

If I hear the word swagger one more time I'm going to vomit. It's becoming a bigger cliche than gunslinger.

Is the speed at WR, the future at WR, set other than Lee Evans?
- Owens is a short-term flyer by Buffalo.
- Parrish will probably be gone soon, if all the trade talk (Buffalo wanting to move him) is legit.
- Assuming James Hardy recovers fully and develops as a pro receiver, he's a big guy.
- Josh Reed, a #3/4 WR, isn't speedy and is only getting older. He'll be a free agent.
- Steve Johnson isn't a speedy guy either, kind of a solid guy in the mold of Reed.
The Bills have some flexibility in where they want to go. Obviously they have to deal with adverse weather conditions, maybe moreso than any other franchise in the league.

Personally I just hope that if we do draft a QB, we don't throw him into the fire right away. I think I can endure another stinker of a season with Trent Edwards if it 's for the greater good.

I'd be looking for an OC and LT in a new QB.

I don't know much about Jimmy Clausen, but is he a confident QB?
How does he play in bad weather?

But for everyone reading this in Buffalo and Cleveland and everywhere else, take solace in the following: As crazy as it sounds, you're lucky. Your Mount Everest experience is still ahead of you. It's waiting, and it's glorious.- Bill Simmons

He looks like a confident QB to me.
It was ranning (i think) against UW and he had 400+ yards.

the stigma about Clausen is that hes sorta a Dbag.. so ima asume its b/c he knows hes a great football player. THat being said. Even if he is a dbag, u can tell his team respects him, and plays hard when he leads them.
well.. against Washington it rained the entire game...
and he went
21/31 422yards 2tds 1 int (int went straight threw his Runningbacks hands)
he also played with turf toe. Rallied them on a game leading TD drive...
then made a big throw in OT and they won

Having a big arm doesn't mean anything. Sure it's a plus, but JP was a big arm QB, and I don't want to have that again for 4 years.

At their bests Trent >>>>>>>>>>>> JP. Losman was never any good at QB and that terrible QB named Edwards outshined him at their peaks by a lot.

Statistically, Losman's best year was better than Edwards
19tds 14 ints 1 rush td 3,000+ yards 65%

I'm not a stat guy, I was talking about how they looked when running that team. JP always had that Sex Cannon type of look where he didn't look in charge but would force it deep often enough for some things to happen, Trent on the other hand actually looked good running that team at times.

at the end of the year that Jp put up the 19tds...
he looked really good. everyone was annoiting him our franchise QB
Green Bay ----He hit that deep ball to Evans to win the game.
Indianapolis --- we almost won that game..
Houston-----300+yds 3tds
Jacksonville --- he had a good game, led us on a drive to win the game
San Diego ----- IIRC, 3td almost led us back to win the game, but defense couldnt pull through
N.Y. Jets --- he played a great game
Miami ---- 3tds in bad weather.. no ints
Tennessee ---- we woulda won, had royal got 2 feet in on that WR pass. Losman looked good
Baltimore--- hit evans on the TD. threw an int at the end of the game.. we were aready out of playoff contention.

I'm not saying he wasn't successful, just that watching him play I never got the feeling that he was in control the way I have watching Trent play.

Just an angry, angry loss.
As for the QB argument I am strongly am on the pocket presence side of the fence. We have enough weapons and for those who make the J.P. argument, his arm strength was only half the battle. It seemed as if every game we'd see that asshole run amok

Almost certain that a victory or Dick Jauron firing comes out of next week. So there's that.
