Yea but I guarantee you that you have a **** ton of debt/bills that need to be paid every 2 weeks, and/or have kids, right? Your crazy if you don't think that's good money. Are you keeping up with the Jones'? Of course not.

I know I turn 28 this year, make $23 an hour, but I have no kids, and outside of my rent being 900 a month the only bills I have to keep up with is a cell phone. I keep my debt low and that's plenty to hold me over. Well, and we get unlimited OT whenever we want, so on rent checks I'll work 50-60 hrs for a few weeks.

If somebody can't live comfortably off of roughly 4k a month, you have got to cut down on some of the rolling debt you pay monthly, or go and get your masters degree. Obviously I am looking at a raise in a year to two, but not complaining for now.

Rolling debt as in when people go to Rent a Center for a big screen, and then your paying $150 every 2 weeks for the next year, things like that are what I consider rolling debt. I don't even know if that's a real phrase just what I like to call it lol.

I have a friend that makes alot more then me, and when he has a million things drawn from his card every few weeks he never gets a chance to see his money. I wouldn't know if a Masters degree is a waste or not, I work with Bank of America in underwriting Home Loans and you don't even need a 4 year degree if you've got company experience. But I do think it'd give you the right to ask for more money then they were offering because you had a Masters.

Masters Degrees are basically ***** extensions. There are very few occupations where you will actually need it or even benefit from it, nevermind be able to justify doing it. I have a mate doing one now, basically for fun, and it's going to cost him basically a years salary. He will not get a 1 cent payrise out of it either.

Really the only reason to do one is if you work in an industry where you know you are capped promotion wise without having one and actually have the ability to get that promotion. Most people I know that get them are the people who don't have the skills to ever reach a position where it will be needed and thus try to compensate for that by getting an extra piece of paper.

Hoping to pick up one of these bad boys in November or more likely December...

Ya know I was never really for sure, but this does make me feel alot better not going back for my last year to get my Bachelors. I still am, because otherwise it was a waste of loans to go for 3 years, but for awhile people had you believe you needed it.

Funny thing is my 3 or 4 friends that do have their degree, they make less then me and a few other people who don't have a degree. Crazy how that's changed so quickly.

I'm almost afraid to post about a car in this thread, since that is the last only thing that hasn't been talked about in the last few pages.

I kind of want a hybrid, but I feel as though the cost in savings would be offset by the purchase.

You're about a year too late on the tax credits for purchasing government approved regular hybrids, but i believe there is one now for plug-in, or electrical hybrids.

It's not about the tax break, though I think I can still get it. I was just thinking of how often I would have to buy gas. You know that price isn't going down... ever.

From what i understood is that your initial deterrent was that the high price of the initial purchase would at best be even to what you would save in gas. In which case the tax credit would make it a slightly better deal, because like you stated, gas prices don't seem to be going down, ever.

Don't think I've ever posted mine in this thread

96 Grand Marquis. Bought it from an old guy who had it sitting for a long time and it came with 82k miles. Restored majority of the main pieces under the hood in the last year and a half, should last me a long time but I think I'm gonna look into some sort of luxury car and stop running the miles up on this.

I have a masters, and I make good money. I was just making a point to whoever said 48K was good money. I'm married, make about 60K and live comfortably. My point was that when we are young, making 200 bucks a week felt awesome. 10 years later, you realize how much stuff actually costs.

And since this is a car thread. Here are mine.

How much more can you do with 60k that you can't with 48 if i'm a single male? You made it seem like peanuts when you don't make that much more, and with a masters degree.

Yeah... Your kind of married, I bet that succubus just eats up that extra 12k a year that masters has gotten you.

As a single male, 48K is good. The year before I got married I made about 38K and was doing great.

My parents couldnt even touch $48K combined these days, not even close. They probably never made much more than $60K combined in their brightest days either.

I personally, could live very comfortably on far, far less than $48K per year.
