^ Packers @ Jets Preview ^

I have the Jets winning 31-17.

Excuses aside, you know your team would be worse if you were missing the same guys as we are.

Besides Al Harris, Atari Bigby, and James Starks being on the PUP the whole season so far, we have these guys on IR, done for the season:
#1 RB Ryan Grant
#1 TE Jermichael Finley
#1 ILB Nick Barnett
#2 OLB Brad Jones
#3 OLB Brady Poppinga
#2 S Morgan Burnett
#4 S/#1 ST Derrick Martin
#3 DE Mike Neal

I'm forgetting 1 or 2 others on IR, plus we have DE Cullen Jenkins probably gonna miss his 2nd straight game, and NT/DE Ryan Pickett his 2nd straight game.

Clay Matthews missed 1 1/4 game, which most believe was the reason we lost both of those games in OT by a FG. He's about where Revis was with the hammy, 2 weeks ago.

I see no way in hell our depleted DL/LB core can contain your running game. There's no reason that LT + Shonn Greene can't combine for 200+ yards.

If he plays, Dustin Keller should be able to expose our depleted LBers, and I expect Santonio Holmes to exploit the slowing down, turf-toed Charles Woodson. Woodson is good for at least 2 penalties Sunday. Revis also gets away with his share of illegal contact. Both guys are capable of making game-changing plays, even if they are hobbled a bit in the toe and hamstring.

Our special teams is horse****. Our kicker has a huge leg, but hasn't made a game-winning kick since his first game of his career in 2007. Our punter choked in OT, costing us 20 yards in field position, which led to our game-losing FG.

Our coverage units have breakdowns all the time. If you still had Leon Washington, I'd bet $$$ that he'd pop one for a touchdown.

Our return units don't know how to block.

I think our punt returner is still Tramon Williams, who without question, has been our best cover CB, far better than Chuck Woodson has been. We need to get Tramon off that punt return team. But our GM refuses to draft/sign a specialist for those units.

I like the way your team is aggressive in assembling a team.
Tomlinson
Braylon
Holmes
Tomlinson
Cromartie
Taylor
Bart Scott

ALL of those guys are solid moves, critical, and NONE of them would ever me made by our tight-wad, ONLY-DRAFT GM Ted Thompson. He refuses to add talent in any manner other than the draft, or signing scrubs, no names.

He could have had a legit kick returner in Ted Ginn for a last day pick. Could have filled Ryan Grant's shoes with Marshawn Lynch for about a #90 draft pick.

I got ripped by a few TT-loving Packer kool-aid drinkers when I said that the Jets improved their team tremendously while our guy let our team go stale and not improve. I made a case for Antonio Cromartie, but some Packer punks thought that if the Chargers were willing to let him go, he must not be any good anymore! Nice logic.

Oakland let Woodson go. Let Randy Moss go to New England. Kurt Warner was let go. Marshall Faulk was let go by Indianapolis. He did okay in St Louis. Jerome Bettis was let go by the Rams. I think the Steelers didn't mind what they got.

You guys turned the page in 2009 from the Favre experiment to a rookie, and you made the AFC title game and now are atop the AFC standings. And it's because of being aggressive off the field as well as on the field. I respect and commend the way the Jets run their team!

I just hope my prediction is 180 degrees wrong this Sunday!

I thought they might come out flat today but this has been really, really bad. Almost like the Baltimore game all over again in terms of how inept they've been on offense.

It's exactly like the Baltimore game only this time we are actually trying.

Kind of, it still seemed like the Packers just brought more effort to the game to me. Those two picks should've been catches if our WR's go after it like the Green Bay DB's did, the offensive line didn't open up nearly enough holes in the run game, and we basically gave them 6 of their 9 points. If Folk makes the FG and they don't go for that early 4th down we could easily be talking about a game that was 3-3 heading into OT.

Sanchez wasn't good, but I think the receivers were worse. Lots of drops too, that Holmes one was awful and Cotchery's hands wwere worse than usual. Didn't like any of the downfield throws to J-Co, he's a move the chains type most of the time and it clearly wasn't working. Still, decision making from Sanchez wasn't good, I didn't like the playcalls, wanted Greene in there more. The holding calls were killers too.

Just got back from the game. I was watching the receivers all day and nobody was getting open. I only saw one time where Sanchez missed an open reciever and he still found cotch on the sidelines who dropped it. Drops were absolutely killer in this game, Sanchez could have had 400 if receivers were catching the ball.

Additionally, Schotty was inexcusable today. 40 passes to 22 runs? Really? Way too many plays called for Cotchery and no effort to get Braylon involved. The packers secondary looked like they knew half of the routes the receivers were running, no creativity. I know detroit isnt a rollover anymore, but i fully expect this team to come out ******* pissed next week and kick the **** out of the lions

The Vikings have waived Randy Moss and according to Shefter, the Jets may show some interest.

Honestly, I don't want him anywhere near our locker room. I'm happy with Edwards-Holmes-Cotchery. Moss is a cancer and just another big ego. We certainly don't need another ego on this team.

Honestly, when the team plays like this I start to think they won't make the playoffs. Kind of flat looking, all sorts of miscommunications on defense, too many costly penalties, not running the ball well...Inexcusable two weeks in a row, Detroit's a good team but the schedule is tough, to make the playoffs they have to be able to beat teams like that.

EDIT:

Luckiest Jets win I've seen in awhile. I'll take it I guess, but there's a ton to work on.

I'd feel a lot better if those clunkers were towards the beginning of the year...throwing up two ugly games in a row doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy about the rest of the season. That is pretty sweet though.

That was brutal. I'm just happy we came away with the victory but we still have a lot of work to do.

Also, Revis is back. He played awesome today.

Of course it would be better if we weren't laying clunkers at this point. But we just reached the halfway point of the season. This is the first game we got the real Revis and the real Santonio, Pace still hasnt reached 100% IMO. Sanchez right now is light years ahead of Sanchez at this point last year, and he took us to the AFCCG. All logic would say that this team is only getting better from now

Yeah, what bothers me is they're supposed to be getting better and they're actually playing worse. Hopefully things continue to click and start to get better sooner rather than later. Cleveland is another tough team that should be beatable but obviously has gone out and beat some teams that overlooked them.

Also interesting that Sanchez had his first career 300 yard game today and the first the franchise has had in awhile. He also has a lot to improve on, every QB has bad throws but that pick was rough and he was really off for a point in the game.

I'm pretty nervous about next weeks game. We have been playing like junk and Cleveland is coming off back to back wins against the Saints and the Pats. They absolutely spanked the Pats yesterday, something has to be said about that. Anyways, Hillis has been unbelievable this year and even Colt McCoy has looked good. It should be interesting to see what happens.

I was a little more worried for last week's game than this weeks' game to be honest. Unless they come out and lay another egg, the level of intensity has to be superior than the past couple weeks for this game. The Browns are coming off a huge win against a better opponent, I wonder if they're due for a bit of a let down. Plus McCoy has been playing very well, but I'd imagine this scheme will be able to confuse him a bit - he's just a rookie QB. Bottling up Hillis will be big, but I'm just not sure how many points they'll be able to get against the defense or where they'll come from if he doesn't go off. Their defense is really good too, I'm kind of hoping either the run game or pass game gets rolling since both have been poor. Should be a tough, close, low scoring game, but I think we'll prevail. Very similar to the Lions game though in terms of playing a good opponent that tends to be underrated, the Browns finish games too. For whatever reason I feel a little better about this one though.

Apparently the backfield is moving towards a 50/50 split between Greene and LDT...hopefully Greene explodes later in the year, love his running style.

Good. LDT was showing signs of slowing down, limiting his touches will increase his effectiveness. On the other hand, Greene is the type of back that gets better as he gets more carries and the game wears on. I was hoping they would make this change and i dont think it could have come at a better time. Lets back back to ground and pound

Well that was a really satisfying win...didn't think that they'd manage to pull it out. Huge plays by Coleman and obviously Santonio at the end, Sanchez's pocket presence was really impressive towards the end of the game also. That play by Holmes is why they brought him in, he's been huge at the end of games. Hopefully he starts to get some looks earlier in the game. Cleveland is a really tough team, Hillis was really rolling early on in the game and it's tough to get to McCoy because he's so mobile. Thought the defense played a lot better in the second half which I was really happy about. Hopefully Folk gets his confidence back after a rough game, at least he didn't cost the team the win but 3 missed FG's is bad, especially with that second miss being a really easy one that he's GOT to make. So nice to be 7-2, time to get ready for a Houston team that's going to be looking for to bounce back after a tough loss today. Arian Foster obviously has been sick on the ground and seeing Revis matched up against AJ again should be pretty fun.

Also, 5k!

That just took abut 10 years off my life.

We have to play better but good teams win games like this so I'm pretty happy.

We're 5-0 on the road. That's pretty damn impressive.

Gilbert just got waved...didn't remember him getting put on the active roster, apparently that just slipped over my head. Good sign that they thought enough of him to activate him to the PS, hopefully they can get him back there. Turner got activated so Cotchery's probably not playing, hurts firepower heading into this game a bit going up against a susceptible Houston secondary. Should be a good one, the Texans are another good test, tough team. Hopefully Rex has them ready to play, particularly containing Foster and Johnson. If they do both I'm not sure how Houston beats us, and even if it's just one that helps our chances considerably. A big game out of Sanchez would be nice also, hopefully he's able to find open guys downfield.

Yeah, Cotchery is officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans. Definitely hurts but with Houston's piss poor secondary, hopefully it won't be too big of a loss. I'm expecting big games from both Holmes and Edwards.

Congrats on your "All-Pro" status, derza.
