*shrug* I've yet to be disappointed by Munch's coaching staff decisions, so I trust Maxie will work out.

Ruston Webster is taking over as Titans GM and Mike Reinfeldt is moving to COO in some front office shuffling done by team. - Jim Wyatt

The Tennessee Titans promoted Mike Reinfeldt to Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer after serving as the team’s General Manager for the past five seasons, and Ruston Webster was elevated to Executive Vice President/General Manager after serving two seasons as the Titans Vice President of Player Personnel. Additionally, Lake Dawson has been promoted to Vice President of Player Personnel

I guess Dawson is staying with us.

NFL Draft Scout has him in the top 50, and they even have him ahead of Burfict.

We are about 30 million under the cap. If we cut Amano we will have more than 30 million dollars in cap room. We better sign some lineman. Sucks that Mario Williams is the only pass rusher available besides Mathis but I don't really like him. The draft sucks for pass rushers too unless you run a 3-4.

BTW Dave McGinnis is leaving for Jeffery.

I would love to hit defense heavy in free agency so we can pretty much focus on offense in the draft. Great year for interior offensive lineman, receivers and even a few good tightends we could use.

I just want Amano gone and us drafting Brian Quick and Janzen Jackson. All that happening plus the titans trying Tommie Campbell at safety would make me happy.

Tommie Campbell is probably staying at corner for now. Especially with it looking like Finnegan won't be back.

I know there's hope about drafting a DE or signing a guy like Mario Williams in FA, but if I had my ideal, it'd be to trade for Osi Umenyiora. I'd send the Giants a 2nd RD pick in this draft for him. He's exactly the type of player that could put the DL over the top.

Don't think I'd go that far, but when Utah St. played Auburn, he was the best defensive player on the field. He struggled a bit at times in coverage, but the dude was blowing up plays and rushing the passer solidly all day.

/wrist. I want him to be a Titan for life. Maybe we can bring in Brent Grimes or something.

I'm starting to get a creepy suspicion that our 1st RD pick will be a CB... :(

Article breaking down the OL individually. Basically says Jake Scott was the worst lineman, both OTs are excellent, Harris is an above average blocker that just needs to cut down penalties, and Amano would be easily replaced.

Sounds like we need a new RG and C. Which most of us knew in the first place. But this reinforces the point.

Scott and Harris both have expiring contracts correct? If we upgrade center and right guard I could live with re-signing LeRoy Harris. We should cut Amano for sure though.

Never mind. Read the article and we still have Harris under contract one more year. Unfortunately since it appears DeCastro is out of reach, my strategy for the o-line would be to let Scott walk and then cut Amano. Then I would try to sign the best offensive guard in free agency that I could. Then I would heavily consider drafting Peter Konz in the 1st round of the draft.

Scott was our biggest liability. He has the mental aspect, which a guy like Harris lacks, but he just doesn't have the athletic ability anymore. Even for a RG. He struggled to engage blockers at the second level. A lot of times I'd see him get to the LB's or the opposite side DE who was coming around and totally miss the block, and then CJ's being tackled and Scott's either turning around to see the defender make the play or he's fallen over on the ground after whiffing. Sometimes the defender doesn't even have to make an athletic maneuver to dodge Scott. It's simply a matter of speed and Scott not having enough to have a proper angle to the defender. It's exactly the worst fit for a speedy back like CJ.

Harris is my ultimate frustration. He should be a rock solid starter at LG. How you can have enough physical strength to hold your own as a C against Haloti Ngata, and also have the athletic ability to pass-block San Fran's 3-4 OLB's as a RT, but somehow be brutally average at LG just boggles my mind.

Amano probably does get too much flack, and I think he deserves a chance to show how he can perform without a liable RG and inconsistent LG next to him. But he still gets blown back too consistently (the article says he sets up late, which is true, and while his ability to rebound and still set the block is admirable, getting pushed back 3 yards and then setting the block is still disrupting the play, whether it's a run or pass). Amano lobbied extremely hard to move from LG to C when Mawae left, but if we drafted Konz, I think Amano at LG, Konz at C, and Harris would be an upgrade over Harris-Amano-Scott. Not having to snap the ball may help him set up quicker. Hopefully our dreams of DeCastro or an uber FA come true though.

But also said in his interview with Mike Keith that the two most talented positions in the draft this year are defensive line and wide receiver. He wants to improve d-line and thinks it's the most talented position in the draft. So which d-lineman do you think we'll be taking??

I think the defensive lineman in this draft suck, personally. Especially at end.

So It's expected cortland will not to be back? I thought we would be signing him to a longterm deal.

Apparently Jim Wyatt has been talking with him and some people within the organization and it seems like they are both far apart on what his considered value is. He was also apparently insulted by their contract extension offers in training camp which is why he stormed out of practice one day.

It was my understanding (thru various sites and speculation only) that the titans would Franchise Finnegan and then use that to extend their time to resign him.

I love Finnegan's play and his attitude, I want him to be a Titan. I think he got burnt last season some due to a lack of pass rush and poor safety play and while I don't think he's a top 5 CB in the league, I do think he's top 10 guy.

As far as pass rush goes, the draft is mediocre this year so free agency may be our best option to improve that part of our defense. Robert Mathis is probably the best pure pass rusher available, and a guy I actually like. He's had 9.5 sacks this past season and 9.5 or more every season except once since 2004 (the exception was when he had 7.0 in 07).
In addition, Dwight Freeney is set to make $14 million dollars this year and the Colts may choose to let him go if they decide to let everyone else go. At this point in their careers, I think I'd Mathis over Freeney.
Another option is John Abraham. He's getting up there in age, but is still an explosive pass rush talent thats explosive in stopping the run.
Cliff Avril is an interesting guy. I don't think he's the talent the above guys are, but he's also between 5-9 years younger. He's gotten helped by the solid interior play from the lions the past two seasons, and the jury is still out on him. I wouldn't give him a huge contract for this reason.
Andre Carter is another guy I'd be interested in, he's a solid pass rusher and is familiar with Gray's system. He's getting up their in age though.
Of Course, Mario Williams is the elite talent but I think he'll get too much to even consider
If we really want to take a small chance, bringing in a 3-4 LB to play DE for us may be a smart choice. Anthony Spencer has really been a bust since being drafted to Dallas, but in my opinion he was never meant to be a 3-4 guy and should have been kept as a 4-3 DE.
Manny Lawson A physical freak of nature, he's a rare talent. He's spent most of his career as a LB, but did play some DE in college. He's only posted 16 career sacks, but in the right system he could be signed cheap and play DE.
Bryan Thomas was another DE in college that was moved to 3-4 LB. He's had a decent but lackluster career as a LBer but could have a short career at DE.
Quentin Groves is a speed rusher and former Jaguar. They busted on him and Derrick Groves, not to mention others. I believe it had to do with development. He most recently played LB for the Raiders, but I think he'd be worth a small deal to try at DE.

I will post our DB options later
There is some solid guys in the draft like Vinny Curry. We could sign a veteran to a 2-3 year deal and draft someone to add depth and talent.
