We're tendering Fiammetta and that's it for RFA's. Talk to you later Kevin Ogletree.

I was reading into Calais Campbell that the Cowboys would be interested if he becomes available in FA. So watch for that name. He'd be perfect. Can play 34 or 43 DE.

Yo what sources dude? I want facts man. Are you making it up? How do you know the Cowboys are interested? Did they say that? You hang out with Jason Garrett?
Just kidding... Would love Campbell. Just wanted to be D-Unit for a second!

KFFL.com. But if you google him up you'll find out that the Cards are pretty intent on keeping him even if it means franchising him. Odds are very slim. But that's what we need. A guy who can play DE in the 3-4 or 4-3.

Jerry said we will be active on Dallas Radio this morning. On ESPN Dallas if you want to read the little blog about it. Said they have their cap situation pretty much figured out with what they can do and they are going to use it.
With that statement and the Brandon Carr rumors, we'll see if that becomes a first day type deal. I just want one significant upgrade. I'd prefer it be Nicks and then focus the rest of our money and most of the draft on defense, but I obviously won't complain Carr.

Is it still two first rounders for a franchised player, or did they change it with the new CBA? Either way it goes, I don't think anyone is worth a first rounder. Sure there are guys like Patrick Willis or Darelle Revis out there worth giving up a first rounder for, but teams wouldn't dream of parting with them now.

You are thinking of the transitional tag. When a team franchises a player they are off limits.

Yeah but the team can place the franchise tag AND THEN trade him. 2 1sts was the old going rate. Not sure with the new CBA, but I doubt that part has changed. Traditionally, that has been too high of a cost, so teams are able and willing to accept less than that. Especially if they don't really want the player, but want to get value back. Using the franchise tag, gets them back some return.

You're all wrong. Non-exclusive franchise players are allowed to sign offer sheets from other teams, but the franchising team has the opportunity to match the offer, or receive first round compensation in return.
Exclusive-franchise player tags (rarely used) are binding.
Transitional tags are like restricted free agency in the NBA. The tagging team has the opportunity to match the offer given to the player.
Last year, all tagged players but Vick and Peyton were non-exclusive.

With the day Poe just had, I really hope it has Stephen Jones reconsidering his statement about Ratliff staying at NT.
I want 1 of 3 guys at 14. It they aren't there, trade down. DeCastro, Kirkpatrick, Poe in that order. Depends on what we do in free agency as well, but for our needs and the value, I think it's them 3 or a trade down. No one else really makes sense.

Poe is pretty solidly built. Reminds me a little of Wilfork. Not big and sloppy like some guys his size. A lot of people are comparing him to both Wilfork and Ngata.

I dunno... Wilfork and Ngata are both very different players. I would only make the comparison to Ngata... a very raw Ngata, but you gotta love the upside.

Well, someone mentioned they hope Ratliff is moved to DE and put Poe at NT. But D said he thinks Poe is similar to Ngata. Am I wrong? Doesn't Ngata play DE? Sounds like Ratliff would not necessarily have to move to DE.
Correct or not?

I mentioned this a couple of days ago..... several scouts think he can play jumbo 5 tech. The Ravens and Packers D-lines like to run really big DE's but in Ryans Scheme I think he would play NT allowing Ratliff to get more single blocks.

I love Poe but I really think he's going top 10. Ryan could give offensive lines nightmares with him. Play him at nose or play him on the strong side of the line and just laugh.
I honestly think we like our defensive line though. Brent will take more snaps at NT and let Rat float more. Lissemore is going to take snaps from Coleman at DE. We have bigger fish to fry.

Does anyone know anything about Ron Brooks from LSU? He's a DB and just ran a 4.35 on his 2nd attempt.

Don't fall for workout warriors. Especially at CB. If he can't play it doesn't matter how fast he is.

Some notes from Archer, who thinks we probably go after a CB instead of Carl Nicks.

It would be terence newman all over again in 3 years.
EDIT: Check Finnegan's rotoworld. Him and his agent want a 6 year deal with 10 mill a year. HELL NO. If we sign him i'm blowing up value ranch.

If were gonna pay $10/year for a corner, I'd rather go with Carr. But even then that's a lot of cash.
