Carr is going to get more than one offer :P If you expected the top CB on the market to be locked up at the bell you're crazy. He's going to be wined and dined this evening and even a competitive offer.
I'm pretty confident on Jones/Rob selling the team.

RT @AdamSchefter 49ers also in on CB Brandon Carr.} I was just told the Cowboys basically won't be taking no for an answer tonight...
|
49ers are also pushing hard for Eric Wright. Let's hope it was just a ploy to try and raise the price or something.

Don't overpay for Carr. If he wants Nmandi money, let him walk. He's not worth it.
The guy was a #2 CB on his own team. And that KC secondary wasn't as good as KC fans want you to believe. Carr is a good player, but if you break the bank for him, it's a mistake.

Agree 7-8/yr is a great deal though.
Same warning on Bennett who from what I've seen on twitter is your "#1 target". Scary thought.

I am not a fan of signing Bennett. I think it's a horrible mistake.
The only deal I make for Bennett is a 1 year league minimum deal, and I doubt this contract will be that.

Brandon's on the left by the stairs, and you can see Rob in the middle.

Someone just posted in the main free agency thread that we are scheduled to meet with Dan Connor.
This Carr situation is getting me nervous. If we don't sign him tonight and he leaves for a visit with another team, I doubt we get him.

CB's cost money. Period. You guys just overpaid for your oft injured CB. It's the price of poker.

Finnegan just got 5 years 50 million from the Rams. I wonder if that will be the bar setter for Carr.
Has anyone heard anything? I am really getting nervous now he landed in Dallas over 5 hours ago..

WOW Finnegan just drove that price up. I didn't think we'd have to pay $10/year.

Ok, with the 49ers re-signing Rogers we should still be in pole positions. Tweets have said we are still wining and dining him in Dallas. It is still only 10 pm central time so let's just hope we hear some good news!

Update on Carr:
Finnegan's deal with the Rams threw a wrench in the Carr negotiations, we were originally set to sign him for around 7 Mil per season and things were supposed to move rather quickly but once news broke of Finnegan getting 10/yr Carr's people backed off and are asking for more money. Our people were up all night reworking the contract details to try and get something done this morning but it's going to be a lot more than we originally thought. At this point it's a little murky, if he leaves today without signing a contract it'll be a major hit to our FA plan... we expected to already have him signed last night and essentially put all our eggs in that basket because we thought it was a sure thing.

Freakin' Cortland Finnegan. I hate him as a player and he would've been a terrible signing, and now he gets a huge deal and screws us over with Carr.
Eric Wright just got signed by the Bucs. I don't know how much competition we have, but if we don't sign him today I doubt we do.
Finisher, if he leaves you better run for the hills.

I would have told Carr's agents to go piss up a rope. He isn't worth 10 mil.

I think we have to be slightly patient here as well. The knee jerk reaction would be to go and give him $10mi/year to at least match Finnegan. However, not all of the teams out there are willing to spend like the Rams and Redskins. And they're actually taking the wait and see approach. We do need to have a plan b in case Carr doesn't fall through.

We could have done that. Oh well.
Are any other teams even in play for Carr? The longer this goes the less likely we are to sign him. I feel like everyone that was after a CB got one...
He isn't worth 10 mill a year though. Jesus I could seriously kill Cortland Finnegan. I can't believe Jeff Fisher would give him that contract. He sucks.
