One thing that REALLY bothers me if we didn't go after Matt Scott. Ugh. Talk about the perfect QB to develop for 2-3 years, he's going to end up starting games in Jacksonville now.
Let's be honest. Scott would've just rotted here.

We're getting Manziel next year anyways.

I'm not sure there is a slot for a third QB on the roster, I can see the team going deep a CB,LB, T, or S to protect against injury.

What do you mean by rot? This would have been an ideal spot for him. He'd have upper echeleon weapons and probably 3 years before taking a meaningful snap. Ideal 3rd QB and would've been free. He has starting QB tools, which you can't argue with as an UDFA. I wanted him in the 3rd/4th lol.

These days teams don't need to spend the time developing QBs really. The good ones come into the league more ready to start on Day 1 than they ever have before.

More and more the back up QB spots are saved for veteran QBs who can be relied on to step in right away in case of an injury.

I disagree with this theory. I think that just because QB's are coming in ready to play now people think that is the only way to do it and that it's somehow a waste to develop a guy. Look at what Denver is doing. They have Osweiler and Dysert. Do you think those guys were ready to play from day 1 as a rookie?

Absolutely not. But in 2-3 years both will be really solid options, vs them just waiting until Peyton retires and thinking they can trade up and get a rookie to roll with them that year. It's nice, but it doesn't always work like that. Of course the back-up QB spots are probably for vets, but that's why teams carry 3 QB's. A ton of QB's are still getting developed, and a ton of QB's get thrown into the fire not ready and suffer. Some people think when a rookie gets out there from day 1 and suffers that he was never any good and assume that he wouldn't have fared any better by sitting which isn't the case.

He'd still be better than Free. Boy was Free terrible the past two years. I don't think Winston would be this world beater, but Romo could breathe better with him as opposed to Free. The guy was invisible sometimes last year.

Top 10 LOCK. Drew Brees and the success of Russell Wilson will make his size a non factor IMO

Updating this. We released Corp from his UDFA contract and signed him as a tryout (guessing) since he will be in attendance for the rookie minicamp. Corp apparently signed a contract simply to provide Dallas with an arm for teaching sessions during the week and offered him a try-out position at the end of the gig.

Brian Price had a SHOULDER injury resulting in his waiving and will be placed on IR barring someone claiming him. So we're giving him a medical redshirt and another year of conditioning and rehab. So a glimmer of hope for Price :)

I thought you said Top 3? Top 10 could be right. But I could see him falling even after that. At least into range where we could trade up if we wanted to. QB rankings are so strange in the way things change over a year.

Gonna be interesting to see if he has another Magical season. He's lucky to have Jake Matthews back but will the loss of Joeckel affect him?

I personally want him to stay in college another 2 years. I don't think the Cowboys will look at QB in Round 1 next year. Romo's contract is too new. We're gonna live and die with him until the wheels fall off.

We should actually be looking at the QBs in the class of 2017. So HS Sophomores and Juniors. LOL.

Price is far and away the most interesting story of the entire DL group. Returning from a pelvic injury that makes me cringe just thinking about it, he is a former member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who drafted him in the second round in 2010. Although he is a bit short at 6-1, that has never been much of a factor. However, one problem he does seem to have is his temper. I have seen him compared to Ndamukong Suh in that respect, and I have been told the team is taking some steps in the offseason to help him get that under control. They are very interested in him and I was informed that Kiffin thinks Price is a better player than a certain Sharrif Floyd will be.
Came from Trogdor. Not sure where his source came from

Top 3 wouldnt surprise me but a top 10 lock. Unless of course he falls flat on his ass this upcoming season but if he has one similar to last year he'll be a lock IMO

On second thought... It's believable.

You won't hear one gripe from me when it comes to bashing the Rob Ryan fire and the Monte Kiffin hire. LOL.

I want to like Kiffin because he sounds like a fiery old man... but if his philosophies are outdated and he doesn't adjust, then we're screwed. I'm glad we went offense in this draft. If Kiffin was brought in to do a better job than Rob then let's see it. I have my doubts. I bet New Orleans defense looks better than it ever has next season.

Kiffen is coming into a good situation. IF everybody is healthy there is no reason to not have a top 10 Defense. I think our back 7 will be very good. My biggest concern is will we be able to stop the run. If we can stop the run, we could become elite. Hoping anyway lol

From the sound of it our young LBs seem to be happy. When healthy we've been pretty good at stopping the run in the past few years... it's the secondary that has been torched. That's why I think S was such a high desire in the draft. Honestly don't think we've solved it yet, but Matt Johnson, Will Allen, Barry Church and JJ Wilcox could surprise us. That's what I'm hoping at least.

Yeah, hoping for a Jimmy Johnson type D. Undersized but everybody flying to the ball. Speed kills. Really hoping MJ and Wilcox wind up starting. They seem to be the playmakers of the bunch and what weve been missing for years.

Am I the only one who wants Charles Woodson? I just don't think it's smart to expect Wilcox to start at Safety, that's going to end horribly. He's an incredible athlete. But he went to Georgia Southern so we see what level of competition he faced. And he played 1 year at Safety, prior to that he was moving all over the place on offense. I just don't think we can realistically expect a guy who moved from offense to Safety a few years ago, and had 1 year of experience at that level, can come in to the NFL starting from the get go.

Wilcox is obviously a much better athlete then Woodson is, but his experience and awareness, and his help developing Wilcox would be ideal. But I guess I should get used to us doing this unconventional.

Its like Gosslin always says, if your not going to play your young guys why draft them, why keep them, look at our O-line, how many guys have we drafted that sit the bench for 3-4 years and move on. I mean whats the point? 3rd rounder should be a starter right?

Been saying this for years. Our Player Development sucks.
