There's always going to be excuses for Romo.

He shouldn't of been the holder in Seattle.
His OL was old(despite the Probowlers) in '07-09.
His OL was too young and experienced after.
His Coach was a dummy.(Wade)
TO was a cancer.
The Defense was terrible.
JG is terrible.
Crayton dropped a pass.
Miles let up.
The receiver ran the wrong route.
Demarco didn't fight for the ball in Washington for the third pick.

Etc.
etc.
etc.

It's not his fault guys. He's good enough to win, the Boys just need to field a perfect team first.

Never ends.

The dude has had ample chances to change his legacy. He's 34 coming off 2 back surgeries, his ship has sailed.

Terrible interpretation.

I'm saying the Cowboys would be a better team if they either had a cheap QB and could afford to surround him with better talent OR if they had a QB who was a legit HOF talent earning the kind of money that Romo earns.

I'm only being fair in comparing Romo to Brady because based on pay, Romo makes more money. Brady's Average Per Year money on his contract is $11M. Romo's deal averages $18M per year. In fact, only 6 QBs get paid more than Romo and 4 of them have won SBs. But you don't think Romo has to make up for the rest of the teams inefficiencies? That it's just a ridiculous thought and expectation for him?

Nothing boils the blood of Cowboys fans talking about Romo. :)

Let's just say EVERYBODY IS TO BLAME and be 100% honest with it.

We had more appearances with Quincy in his 3 year career then Tony has given us the past 4.

Or did those teams have more talent? Troy Hambrick your leading rusher and Richie Anderson your top receiver.

Actually, that was Stephen. ;)

To their credit, they got him to restructure to be affordable this year, but it'll be interesting to see how it all catches up to them in the end.

They restructured Romo to earn $11M next season. The season after that... A WHOPPING $27M+!

Restructure, restructure... cut? ala Ware?

IDK man, I think we're just gonna have to ride this one out.

We'll still be competitive because of how much talent there is on offense, and I'm sure we'll go defense heavy in this draft. But I don't see Romo being along for the ride whenever we're real contenders again.

Maybe Dez can set some records under Linehan this year.

Are you implying Quincy is/was a better QB?

Saying it's ridiculous to use talent around him as an excuse as to why it hasn't happened.

Definitely looking forward to it. He'll need to force Romo to make a mental adjustment though. Whether that can be done or not is another thing.

How many games did Demarcus help us win last year? I can't remember one. He was a great player, but he's not worth 12-16M a year on your cap. Thta's money for a top 10 QB, or a real game changer.

Obviously we need an impact draft, but what will really help is if the 2012 draft pays off in year 3. I think that's key. Claiborne needs to play like a starter (forget 6 overall) and Crawford needs to bounce back from injury.

Hard to have an impact draft when you always pick middle of round 1 and have no assets to trade up with.

Unlike the NBA draft, I think the NFL draft means a lot less in where you are picking. I mean we did just trade up for Mo. Problem is he hasn't taken off yet and we're not sure that will ever happen. We really need him to be as good as the upper tier CBs in the league.

Absolutely. Outside of the top 10 or so there are never any impact players drafted. Just the sad reality of the NFL Draft.

(Loaded with sarcasm in case you didn't pick up on it)

Also - D back to Romo bashing. *shocked*

After FA/draft we'll be sitting pretty much where we have been the last couple years. 10-6 division winner as perfect scenario. 6-10 cellar dweller worst case scenario.

Melton scheduled for a visit tomorrow.

No chance in hell. If we land Melton it'll be an upgrade at probably less cost which is hilarious.

Absolutely not, but I also wouldn't have let us get into cap hell with ridiculously stupid contract after even more ridiculously stupid contract either.

Why what hasnt happened? Did Quincy win something and I missed it? The question was, in case you missed it, how many playoff games have we won after Aikman and before Romo? Would that be zero? Is it a FACT that we've won 1 playoff game in the last 18 years, before and during Romo's tenure? Since Aikman, Romo has been our best QB BY FAR and we STILL cant win. 18 years and counting, ya'll are focusing on the wrong reasons for us not winning.

After FA/draft we'll be sitting pretty much where we have been the last couple years. 10-6 division winner as perfect scenario. 6-10 cellar dweller worst case scenario.

Melton scheduled for a visit tomorrow.
Maybe if we had a front office that was even remotely competent it wouldn't be an issue. Instead we have an awful QB who is paid like he's Tom Brady who screws us for years. We need a total rebuild, that can't happen picking in the middle of the round every year.

Here is why Ware is an awesome guy.
http://t.foxsports.msn.com/demarcus-...usiness-public

Quote:
"These guys drafted this guy with the 11th pick in the draft, they paid him fairly on his rookie contract, they paid him very fairly on his second contract," Dye said. "He's made $52 million the last four years, so there's no bitterness about that."

Dye said Ware demonstrated his appreciation by not fielding offers from rival NFC East teams.

"There were teams in the NFC East that were dying to get him in for a visit," Dye said. "DeMarcus felt so appreciative and so grateful to Mr. Jones for allowing him -- for the lack of a better word -- his freedom, that he didn't feel good about coming back and playing the Cowboys twice a year."

Now with the Broncos, the only way Ware will play against the Cowboys in 2014 is if Dallas and Denver meet in the Super Bowl. It's possible that Ware's next trip to AT&T Stadium could come when his name is placed in the Ring of Honor after he retires.

"He'll always be a Cowboy," Dye said. "He'll keep a home there. And I feel certain that he'll come back there when he's done playing."
Ware could have gone to Philly, New York, or Washington, but he chose not to because he was appreciative of the way the Cowboys cut him early so that he could find the best offer early instead of being held hostage. Can't help but love him, and I'm still going to be wearing his jersey when I'm out. I still love the guy, and I just bought it last year. I'm not ready to tuck it away in the closet. lol

Right. Now I understand why I stopped reading the NCAA subforum.

Look at the contracts, understand then, and then come back and talk about contracts.

Brady's contract is 60% guaranteed. Romo's is 30% guaranteed. Romo will NEVER see the end of his contract as the last years are an accounting trick to push restructured money out 5 years. For both D and yourself click on that fun little column called "Guaranteed per year" or "Percent Guaranteed" and you'll see why Romo's number is so high. It's funny money to make the cap work.

Hell Joe Flacco is better paid than Romo and I sincerely hope no one in here would rather trot him out on a day to day basis.

Just...
