So, right now, assuming Nelson is gone who do you want (not who do you think we will take) with our first pick?
My list is:
Joe Staley
Aaron Ross
Dwayne Bowe
I think that even with Henry staying at CB, we need another one. Glenn will be gone next year, ad Henry is turning 32, we need depth and a future replacement, and this draft should allow us to pick a great CB at #22. I don't know about next year's...

Im glad someone else besides me understands this. You all are so against grabbing one these CBs in the first if Nelson and Landry are gone. We need to get younger at CB.

One of the things that Jerry was quoted on last week was saying the Cowboys could be drafting a QB, although not in the 1st or 2nd rounds.
http://www.cowboysplus.com/topstory/...e.3857a24.html
So who would you like to see drafted? Trent Edwards would be great but I think he'll be gone by the end of the 2nd round. John Beck seems like a possibility. I think he'll be available on the 2nd day. I also still really like Chris Leak. No, he will probably never be a full-time starter in the NFL, but he could turn into a good backup. Supposedly he's a real student of the game, and I think that's a good characteristic in a backup QB. He might become sort of like Jason Garrett was for Troy Aikman.

I see Beck. He figures to be a perfect backup for Romo.

Jordan Palmer somewhere in the 2nd day would be okay.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind the Palmer pick in the 5th or something like that.

CB depth has never been a non-concern. It's the idea of spending a first rounder that's tough to swallow. I do like Ross though, because he could work out at FS.

He can also be the punt returner so Newman doesnt have to and risk injury

I could most definately deal with that. Kelvin Hayden's hit on Newman last year nearly made me crap my pants.

It was wierd I was talking to my dad and said "I hate when Newman is back there it makes me nervous he could get hurt" and then Hayden leveled him

I haven't seen him play, but his scouting report reminds me of Romo a little, which could be a good thing.

Newman isn't nearly the returner Deion was.

T New is fast but Deion had another gear. Only guy I saw similar is M Faulk.

I actually like the Deion "Protiege" Devin Hester. I mean after all Deion has been teaching him one on one and Hester has that extra gear.

off topic, but deion came out and said hester is far beyond where he was at as a return man at this point, faster, and better vision of the whole field in front of him, too bad he cant play corner....
T New has alot of deion in him, but it would make me happy to take him off punt return, dont want a freak accident going on, so the ross pick would make me happy, im going for merriweather or ross rd 1 personally

Spitting hairs on my end but I think another poster has said it. Hester, while fast, has amazing vision and instincts running the ball. He would make a great tailback in a zone block scheme.
But I have not seen a fast CB guy have an angle on Hester and not catch him. I have seen Deion run right by CB even with an angle to tackle him.
But Hester is a better returner. I was just talking pure 6th gear speed.

Question about a couple DB's. What are the chances Marcus McCauley falls to us in the 2nd (Kiper has him in the 3rd so that got me interested)? And what does Sabby or Wendling look like as FS? Apparently Sabby ran in the 4.3's in his pro day. I haven't really seen these guys play so just curious.

I'm not too sure McCauley will fal to us in the 2nd, but it definately has the possibility. I personally prefer Wendling/Pisciatelli @ SS

I never said Newman was as good a returner as Deion, I said that he runs and plays like him, except is a better hitter. And Newman actually runs a faster 100 meter than Deion ran, so I wouldn't say he has a gear that Newman doesn't.

Supposedly we've brought in Michael Griffin for a private workout.

Hmmm... I'd be cool with him, though I think he may be a bit of a reach where we are. Maybe we could trade down just a few picks. He is quite good in coverage, though he sometimes gets too caught up trying to stop the run, IMO. I think if we could teach him to focus a bit more on coverage, he'd be great.
