To the Roy Williams guyz, ahem ........ too bad Jerry did not read this article before last summer. This article echos some of the thoughts from posters this past fall.
Safeties first and foremost must be able to cover. Not like a CB but ..... I hope Roy turns it around this year.

I wanted Lawson, but its too early to say that he would have been the better pick. I also really liked Maroney, but I don't remember much discussion about a RB last year, so I never really thought him a possibility.

I wanted Lawson. I think he has more star potential. But, honestly, I dont think either was as good as I thought they would be.

I wanted Carp over Lawson all the way until we were literally on the clock and for some reason I hoped they were gonna take Lawson. But Carp was the smarter pick. Lawson was just a little more flashy in the spur of the moment in my mind.
Looking at it now Maroney wasn't in the picture because we had too much hope (yet uncertainty) in Julius' young unproven career. I wonder who we're overlooking this year who is in the same situation... Canty? Spears? Hatcher? Watkins?

I wanted Carpenter more than Lawson last year and I still feel that way.

That is a damn good question. Very thought provoking.

Damn, everyone wants to trade Ellis. You would have to be crazy to trade for a player coming off of a torn achilles tendon. haha. Lets trade Jones and Fasano, he's pretty much useless. :)

Yea, even better! BP was right, Fasano is Bavaro. Except he isnt a great blocker or reciever. Or a very good runner after the catch. Or....

I was all about Lawson last year, but can't really say now seeing both had quiet rookie seasons.

I loved the 49ers draft last season... they got the FREAKS of the class... didnt pan out too well in year one, though.

I might be in the minority, but I am a huge Fasano fan. He just needs to get accustomed to the speed of the game. Once things start slowing down for him, he'll be a good player for us.

I haven't given up on him yet. It was foolish of us to expect that just because he played a year in Charlie Weis' offense that he could come into the NFL and not miss a beat.

I be willing to say that clearly Lawson had the better season. Not to put Carp down at all, but Lawson made a bigger impact quicker.

Wow. We became big winners, here. Spencer solitifies our entire LB core because it allows us to move Carp inside and replace James, who will then be the backup. James Marten is great depth on the line and he's played Guard in the past, so he'll be the versitile backup that you need on the line. Not to mention we have next years 1st round pick for one of the worst teams in the league. As far as tommorrow goes, there is a guy on the board who we've shown lots of intrest in in the past few months. I predict that Aundrae Allison will be the pick in round 4, and he'll shore up WR. The, all we need is a CB and a NT. I think we'll go Paul Soliai for NT and then go with Tarell Brown, Kenny Scott or David Irons at CB, whoever's there in the 5th. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is so far so good, now let's finish this thing off.

Heard the press conference with Jerry and Wade and it is pretty clear that Bobby Carpenter is either moving inside or sitting.
One of Jerry's kids at ILB is going to the Pines.

Who do u think will be our starting 4 LBs?
I say: Ware(90%)/Burnett(10%), Ayodele(100%), James(50%)/Carpenter(50%), Spencer(66%)/Carpenter(34%)

Ware is 100% easily. How can you give Burnett 10%?
