What makes you think Romo + Tree/Holley/Harris is workable?

I mean they have to play with who they have to play...but a banged up and young OL + Receivers that can't get separation + a vicious Skins pass rush is a recipe for disaster.

I remember when Brian Waters was released, how bad I wanted him and how much that made sense. Well we sat on our hands and waited and waited, now he's a starter for the Patroits. SMH. There were some really good depth options out there for us. Should be fun times out there for Romo.

Finally some good news!

@AdamSchefter: WR Dez Bryant and RB Felix Jones are back practicing today for the Cowboys. QB Tony Romo is not.

Romo, Dez, and Felix are all one good shot away from missing a lot more time with those current injuries. At least Tony gets to wear a kevlar vest. lol.

Hahaha look how bad it's gotten.

Quote:
IRVING, Texas -- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah could be making a position switch from safety to wide receiver.

Owusu-Ansah was wearing No. 11 at Friday’s practice and went through the pat-and-go session with the offense catching passes. With injuries to Dez Bryant and Miles Austin as well as practice squadder Teddy Williams (ankle), the coaches could be looking at Owusu-Ansah as a temporary fix to get through practice.

Yeah, I've been saying this... but I like Kowalski better than Costa. Granted, it's been a small sample size, but so far, he's looked better imo.

If Nagy is starting, then Romo better fear for his life.

Jason Garrett's games with the media are a refreshing change from Wade. Everyone is questionable and pessimistic talk all week and come Thursday everyone is practicing and Romo's lung has completely healed.

Sky isn't falling and I still LOVE our match-ups on the outside of both lines (Free/Smith and Ware/Spencer(Butler)).

Now just imagine how effective it'd be if Jerry didn't run behind him and unravel everything Garrett says(or doesn't say)

The way the season is shaping up for the Giants and Cowboys, I almost feel like Philly can sleep walk through the division and still win it.

I don't feel this way. I am certainly bias, but I think Garrett will prove to be the best coach in the NFC East. I also do not think Vick will finish this season. I think the Eagles are incredibly weak up the middle - interior OL, LBer & S. I do think the Giants are in trouble because of injuries and Eli. Wash is a very solid team, but still has Grossman as the QB.

We only sign OL when they are over-hyped and over priced. A 32 year old Vet who can still play, and cheap, need not apply.

... Really? We've been down this same road multiple times: Montrae Holland and Marco Rivera say hi. While you can rightfully be angry about our ability to scout, draft, and sign lineman (until this year) you can't fault them for throwing money at the problem.

The curve for playing ability of offensive lineman looks more like a cliff after they hit 30. Exceptions are certainly there but if you are telling me the Chiefs left him walk when he was a capable player I have a bridge to sell you good sir.

Dez was dressed out for practice but didn't participate, he worked out on the side with trainers. Garrett says "He was certainly limited" in his press conference.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/...eturn-practice

I still believe that it was a dumb move by the coaching staff to keep him in the Jets game and it only made his injury worse.

Seems like you're talking about Kosier, Colombo and Davis...

no wait... they came cheap and their hype was terrible. Who exactly are you talking about?

Hahaha, he's just typing to type I think....Especially since they JUST signed the very player he described...Derrick Dockery.

I mean really... if they really did go after overpriced and overhyped guys, then this would've been the exact time to do it. Logan Mankins, Justin Blalock, Harvey Dahl, Robert Gallery, Davin Joseph are names that roll off my mind. But we didn't and actually, I'm pissed that they didn't.

The guy they DID give a new contract to was Kosier who couldn't be any less hyped and any cheaper as a serviceable vet. Kosier has continued to suck too. Getting that deal did improve him any. I hate it when we overrate our own guys and then let a guy like Bowen who should've been kept slip away.

Davis was cheap? He was the highest paid OG in the league when he got that contract. The GB (Rivera?) guy was cheap?

Won't poop on Kosier but Colombo was a reclamation project and no one thought he would make it. He sat around what, 18 months?, in Valley Ranch working out under Parcells watch-full eye?

Dockery might be another Kosier but the point is Waters and a few others were lots better. But, Kosier was not old and cheap. He was expensive and young when signed from SF.

ANnd Kosier was young when we signed him.

Dockery is the first over 30 OL we have signed on the cheap in the last 10 years at minimum.

Just saying as a strategy, signing older OL on the cheap to play 1-2 years is not bad policy. There is always some OL over 30 who is cut ready to play a few more years under $4MM per that will give you good results even if not Pro Bowl results.

Why in the world do you want to sign over the hill retreads to patch together your offensive line? THIS is the reason we are in this position. Develop your own talent on the offensive line and take your lumps in the growing process. If we are talking about signing ELITE or even GOOD talent to mesh then fine. Waters is 34 years old and has been on the decline the past few years. Not exactly the type to fulfill the savior role.

If we had scouted better and hit on a few more picks in our oline adventures this conversation point doesn't exist. To be successful you have to develop your offensive line and not rely on FA or you're doomed from the get-go.

Be great if we had great young linemen, but OL is a role where getting old dudes who still have some gas in the tank makes sense. That is my idea.

Haha I'm watching the Lions play taking full advantage of the NFL ticket on weeks the Cowboys play night games, and Suh just dominates everything in the middle. It's gonna be pretty scary having to play him, with our interior offensive line, with Romo having a cracked rib. If Suh lands on him just one time during the game, he's likely out for a long time.

I don't think were blocking anywhere near good enough to stop that from happening. I'd shut him down that game, and make it a coaching decision because he obviously will play. I just don't think making the injury worse is going to help the season anymore.
