Fundamentally, we need guys who can hit the QB more. You hit the QB early, you mess up his timing and he's not as on point.

Someone mentioned it earlier that Rob's defense requires corners who can get to the QB on blitzes, and that's something we're currently lacking.

We also need to replace Bradie, he's awful. Brooking, it goes w/o saying. If Carter can step up in 2012, we have to be a little bit better there.

Here's a few FA C's that spark some interest. If that indeed is where the front office is looking as opposed to a G.

They're gonna be around for a while.
Ummmmm, NO! Mike Nolan deserves the credit. He brought in alot of those peices. He had personel control his first few years as coach and he brought in alot of the raw talent that you see making plays. Singletary didnt do jack **** but campaign for us to waste a draft pick on Taylor Mays and tell Nolan and our GM that there was nothing special about Patrick Willis before they ignird him and drafted him anyway. I'll give him credit for whipping Vernon Davis into shape but he had nothing to do with any personel moves while he was here. I always said Im not sure about Nolan as a HC but I think he would make one hell of a GM one day. He can spot talent.

And while Im here, let's put to rest the 'Whitner sucks in coverage' rhetoric. Whitner is a major reason for the turnaround in our secondary. Brees said before our game, the play in our secondary is night and day from last year. Carlos Rogers is good, but he aint that good. Alot of his ints have come because he has a guy like Whitner playing over the top which allows him to be aggressive on the underneath routes and hawk the ball. If Whitner isnt where he's supposed to be, those opportunites aren't there and we're giving up huge pass plays like we have the past 5 years. Whitner is the anchor back there. Its why both Goldson and Rogers are ballin right now. Whitner played alot of Cover 2 in Buffalo. He knows how to play in space and diganois routes and track the ball. We play alot of quarters and combo coverages. Too many SS aren't sure of themselves in space and end up guessing and not trusting the scheme. Not Whitner. The difference with the Niners is we allow him to come up in the box more a play that hybrid LB role. We even let him man up TEs one-on-one and he's held his own. It took about the first 4 weeks of the season but once he found his groove, our secondary play took off and we haven't looked back. He's our most important off-season addition besides Harbaugh. He's had a even bigger impact on this defense than Aldon Smith. It just doesn't always show up on the stat sheet.

But thanx for the kind words about our defense. It used to be a heart attack waiting to happen when they were on the field all these previous years. Now I sit back and marvel....That's my defense, lol.

Lot of rumors going around that Dez was arrested last night for a physical altercation at a night club in Miami.

Stay tuned.

It was on 105.3 The Fan out of Dallas a little while ago and it's on BleacherReport, not to mention on twitter and all over the place if you Google search it. Nothing's official yet but I have a bad feeling about this one.

That would really, really suck. I don't think Jerry will let him go though.

Anyway, here is Tim McMahon's way of fixing the Cowboys:

Signing Nicks sounds good at first, but then thinking about how it would eat up almost all of our cash then makes me a little worried. We might be able to then sign Robinson, but leaves no cash to go after an OLB or S. That means we probably resign Elam or let Church be our guy. I'm a little torn on this to be honest.

I am however becoming very intrigued with Kirkpatrick. Cannot wait to see how he runs in the combine and his pro day.

Mcmahon puts the blame on the secondary, not sure how you ignore the pass rush, or put all your eggs in the Victor Butler basket.

Two tweets that Broaddus retweeted:

Quote:
To be clear on Dez, no confirmation of arrest. Detained by Miami PD after being involved in physical altercation at club. Waiting on details
Quote:
No records of Dez Bryant in Miami-Dade's Inmate System, further confirming what @benrogers....confirmed. Not arrested
So hopefully it was just a scuffle, and we're in the clear...

EDIT: In some positive news, Broaddus just tweeted me back saying DeMarco Murray is already 100%, so he won't miss anything in the off-season.

When does Felix's contract run out?

To me, he's almost a complete waste. The typical "talented" Cowboy who doesn't produce consistently, is always hurt, but gives a false sense of depth at RB.

Watching the Giants win another damn playoff game makes me want us to beef up the front 7 even more. How about Mathis or Mario? Anyone up for these guys?

I'm not with you on Spencer. I think he f'ing sucks. Anyone playing opposite Ware for 5 years and never have more than 6 in one season is a joke. Interior DL is a need, too, but I think OLB has be addressed. I've got big worries about Butler playing 3 downs.

I was looking through my football box of stuff and found the playbook I got when I worked with your HC and John Garrett.

Some tidbits since you're Dallas fans. You guys use a number system when calling plays.

3 numbers refer to X, Y and Z. F and H are tagged when calling plays. I have the passing tree and routes associated with it, but interesting and efficient way of calling plays. I always liked the numerical code for calling plays.

Right on brother. No excuse for that at all. Offenses key on Ware every week, all game, if you get someone on the other end who is a threat to get after the QB I think it makes our entire defense better top to bottom. I'm with you on Butler, love his pass rushing skills, but for 3 downs I think he could be a liability. I would love to draft a full time OLB that is a consistent 12 sack guy, but I really want Butler to see an expanded role, just let him pin his ears back and go after the QB.

He definately can be an asset doing that, and I think we should be able to get 3 OLBers on the field at once to get after the QB.

Again though, after seeing more of the Niners game, I wish we had a terror on our front line. DE or NT. I would love another one.

On the Lunch Break they we're talking about if you could get a 4th for felix on draft day would you do it?

They all pretty much said yes, and I say HELL YES.

Felix is an average, injury prone back with the ability to break of a long run once in a blue moon. He's good for one 30 yard run everything 3 games. Any running back can do that. Let's face it. I know posters like MOTH and LL like him, but he's easily replaceable. It's not like trading him matters either, because if DeMarco goes down we are screwed anyway. We saw what happened the last 3 games of the season. His vision is perfect, and he hits holes that no other running back can behind this pathetic interior OL.

The options are as follows if we trade felix for a 4th:

Option A: Trade him. Use the 4th on the BPA that helps our team, hopefully another CB, ILB, or a true NT. Draft a RB in the 6th or 7th who has proven he can carry the load in college and is durable, hopefully a bigger back. RB depth chart- Murray, Tanner, said drafted rookie.

Option B: Keep him, have the same running back situation, and don't get a pretty solid football player with the 4th round pick you would get for felix, who would probably help this team out a lot more than Felix would.

In my opinion, Option A is a much better option. Again, if Murray goes down we're screwed anyway.

Felix is way more valuable to us than a 4th round pick.

I agree. I think we need an impact DT. Now, if we get a good NT, Rat could be that guy. I think there will be some good DEs in the 2nd - Cox, Reyes or someone like that could be a strong option in the 2nd round.

How? Tell me how option B is better than option A in anyway...? It's not even close.

If there is one position you will get me to say is the least important it's running back, because anyone who is good enough to get into the league will get the job done.

A 4th round pick can turn into a quality player if you go BPA. That and some 6th round running back who is durable is way better for our team than Felix.

I don't see how you can say that.

Given that Murray did get hurt, I don't think he's shaken that injury prone tag, yet. A guy like Felix that can get you a TD from 80 yards out is not walking around on every street corner.

I agree with you that RB doesn't have to be an impact position, but Felix is a talented guy and he's cheap right now.
