I love the Attitude Era as much as anyone, but having it PG isn't all bad. Its forced WWE to figure out new ways to do things, having different characters (Do you think Chris Jericho's heel act now would've worked in 2000?), develop storylines further without random swerves for no reason and focus on the in-ring product and not resort to needless blood and unprotected chair shots when they're not always neccessary.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am enjoying Vince getting NXT into the heal story lines.

That's the standard reaction to Mysterio winning the title.

I'm a big fan of Swagger, but he wasn't working as the champ. I'm not a fan of Rey, but at least he gets a reaction from the fans.

Swagger was working just fine as champ, I don't see why you would complain. Rey was probably the worst champ of all time that got at least a month reign.

I heard from some belt makers that WWE is looking to get a new heavyweight title soon. the current heavyweight title is a terrible design so this is good news, IMO.

its nice it doesn't spin anymore but its still a mess.

Swagger has to be the worst champ in recent memory. Even Sheamus was a better champ then Swagger. He just doesn't have "it" yet, he stutters which is f'ing annoying as sin, a gut wrench powerbomb as a finisher (yeah mimicking Test thats a winning theory), and no charisma.

Seemed like his in-ring segments were getting heat. Maybe if he was booked to win more than half his matches when he won the title people could've taken him a little more serious.

Swagger losing the title was a last minute plan because the WWE wants to keep the Punk/Rey storyline going. They want to lead into a title vs Mask match at Summerslam.

IMO Swagger has done a fine job as champ, problem is Punk is the top heel on Smackdown by a mile, and Drew McIntire is a distant second.

Much like Sheamus and somewhat Punk though, it was trying to get somebody over with the belt and create a new star. CM Punk was already pretty over though on ECW. Sheamus wasn't over as champ but the stuff with Triple H got him over. Swagger needs a true feud now. Hell, even Punk wasn't bought as a true main eventer till the Hardy feud.

He's not mimicking Test. He's mimicking Dr. Death Steve Williams. In my opinion the Doctor Bomb is one of the top handful of finishers in the WWE.

Swagger executes the powerbomb perfectly, so I don't see why you're complaining so much. And when did Test actually do a powerbomb? His finisher was either the running big boot, or the overdrive.

I like Swagger's finish. They just didn't build him up well enough. He won one big match prior to becoming champion, which he one against a heel, and then started a rivalry with the Big Show, who would make almost anyone look like a weak pansy in comparison.

A rivalry with Christian would have made more sense, me thinks.

WWE has done this in the past with their first time champs, given them a short initial MOTB run. (Edge in 06, Punk twice) Edge lost it back to Cena at the Royal Rumble, Punk defended against the likes of JBL before losing it, without really losing it, in a scramble match. Where they take Swagger from here will show how committed they are to him.

That would require making Christian a world championship contender and yeah, the WWE isn't going to do that.

Not really (and for the record, I'm not sure Christian deserves that either). I'd hardly call Big Show a championship contender. Nobody who knew anything expected him to actually win the title, which he hasn't held since Bill Clinton was President.

The first rival after a big championship win is usually something of a pushover by main event standards.

He had the title in 2002 for a month. As for Christian not deserving a chance, why is that exactly? He's a hell of a lot better than Rey is.

Brodeur, you seem to be under the impression that wrestling decisions are based off of what smarks want.

Indy wrestler Trent Acid died at the age of 29. Acid teamed constantly with Johnny Kashmere as the Backseat Boys. From 2002-2005, there were not many wrestlers on the indy scene better than Trent (he appeared on WWE quite a bit as an extra and a jobber).

I loved watching Trent in CZW and ROH, but his personal demons got the best of him (he's been in jail twice for drugs), and despite his best efforts to clean up, it was too little too late.

Christian was pretty over as the ECW champ, and they could have easily made him a contender on Smackdown when ECW disbanded.
