Sell my soul? We hired a recruit's dad so he would feel more comfortable at Kansas...That's far from selling our souls...Self is a classy guy...He never negatively recruits and doesn't commit recruiting violations...I think you meant Cal is slime...It's not like Ronnie Chalmers was some bum off the street either...He was a very successful HS basketball coach.
Your hatred for Self and all things Kansas is pretty juvenile...Get over it...Self spurned Illinois for Kansas and has now won a NC, while your program has gone down the tubes...Just move on...I still don't understand why Illinois fans just can't get over it

For the record, Caracter is gone from UofL... Again. Thinking about going NAIA route given how terrible his grades are.

You didn't almost make the tournament. You lost to us in the semi finals of the Big 10 Tournament after having a decent season. You my friend were not a bubble team, at least not in the sense of some of the other bubble teams. Hell we were almost in as well, one win away.
We also have had one of the best recruiting runs in the country for 2009 and 2010, two five star players in 2010, four four stars in 2009, a four star in 2008, and more to come shortly, we also have a stud transfer in Legion, and have the best PG in the conference in DMac, yup I said it. If you haven't heard Jamar Smith was kicked off the team about two weeks ago which hurts a lot, but it also opens up another scholarship that will be filled shortly. We're still at least a year away from making a move back to the better half of the Big 10 but as far as "futures" go we have one of the brightest in the Big 10, no doubt with our recent recruiting gets.
Wisky never rebuilds, they reload. They lost Tucker and Taylor last year and were awesome this year. Ohio State and Matta recruit like mad every season and will be strong for years to come. Purdue keeps getting talent every year and will be strong. MSU while underachievers are still a threat every season. Minnesota has a long way to go to prove to me they are making a move to the top of the Big 10 because they haven't had much recent success.
Minnesota I agree does have a nice future but as far as becoming a power house in the Big 10, I don't think so. Oh and we beat you 3 times last year as well btw. ;)

You can't forget that we had a solid season last year with what was honestly a pretty ****** team. Don't underestimate how good of a coach Tubby is.

You also surprised a lot of people. I like the way Minnesota is going but with their lack of past success, the strength of the upper Big 10 Teams, and now that teams know about what Tubby has done, I think they are a little bit away from making a move.
And yes I do believe Minny will be better than us this year, a lot of that has to do with losing Jamar Smith but you guys have a solid team and a good recruiting class coming in. But as far as 2-3 years down the road, I like Ohio State, Purdue, Wisky, MSU, and Illinois better. You can call me a homer but we have some serious studs coming in in 2009 and 2010.

Speaking of which, Minnesota received commitments from Rodney Williams and Justin Cobbs (who took the scholarship offer before Darius Smith). Giving them, along with Royce White, another very solid year of recruiting. Not sure how many scholorships they have left, but they got the two Minnesota studs they wanted, and the point guard of the future.
As for the Big Ten, Michigan State will always be the team to beat, Thad Matta is recruiting like no other, but there really is no other elite Big Ten teams (sorry Sweetness). I'm definately not sweating Purdue, and I like our chances more than Wisconsin and Illinois.

Kenny George, who apparently has grown another inch is probably going to miss the entire season. How miserable do you think he is knowing he's way too big to ever live a normal life?

Next season will probably be a long one for IU, but the good news is that they are bringing a very good recruiting class.
IU will be back.

Oh yeah, forgot all about IU. I'm sure Senor Cream (sounds like a porn name) will turn it around.

Minnesota against Louisville is going to be a good game next year here in Phoenix.
Also, I'm pissed that ASU tried to get in another game against Georgetown, but they wouldn't schedule it with us. That is very upsetting.

ee
The list of prospects visiting KU during Late Night at the Phog is insane...Xavier Henry, Dominic Cheek, and a bunch of others.

I can't wait for college basketball to start. I wonder which team is going to come from nowhere during the early season tournaments this year. It seems like every year a team shocks the nation with big wins in either the preseason NIT or in Maui.

OSU! If only we didn't have an uncanny lack of big man depth. I dunno, if a PG steps up, watch out. #1 recruit BJ Mullens and our guards and small forwards are absolutely stacked. Lighty, Turner, Diebler, now Buford. Lauderdale could be good at PF.

OSU is no longer Ohio State University. It is now known as One Season University. This will be the 3rd year in a row with a talented freshman 7 footer that bolts after one year

This is going to be such an awesome season for ASU. And for anyone who hasn't see James Harden, make sure to watch him. Don't be surprised if he goes #1 in the draft next year. Yes, he is that good.

Now that Orton has committed, if Patrick Patterson stays next year (wants to be a top 10 pick to leave) we will EASILY have the best frontcourt in the nation and it's a safe assumption that we'd be top 5 going into next season.
I can't believe how quickly Gillispie has turned things around. This is the most athletic team we've put together in quite some time not to mention they have amazing chemistry. Cannot wait for the season to start.

I'd be surprised if Patterson stayed given the weak draft class this year.

I almost bought this years Athlon college basketball preview mag today but I decided to hold off a bit. I didn't want to get myself too anxious for college hoops to start.

They are so sick this year, it's not creative at all but they are my pick for the NC. Way too talented to not win it all.
Lawson, Ellington, Hansborough, Danny Green, along with another sick recruiting class with Ed Davis, Tyler Zeller, and Larry Drew.
The Gophers should be competitive again this year. I would expect another NIT appearance this year, but 2 years from now we could be a legit contender in the Big Ten.

I don't remember a Tennessee football season in the past where I was already looking forward to basketball season. Things have definitely flip-flopped here at UT. Thank goodness for Bruce Pearl.

Yep...they help us win though. Mullens is no Oden and we don't have a Conley but our wings are better than a few years back. I think they will easily make the tournament and Mullens is the kind of player who could help carry a team once they reach it.

Yeah... He loves it here and his parents want him to graduate (they're trying to get him graduated in 3 years) but I honestly think Gillispie will be urging him to go if he's a top 10 pick. It's in both parties best interest, if he goes pro then Gillispie has Orton/Pilgrim as very solid big men to take his place and in the future he can point to Patterson as a big man he's sent to the NBA.
Things are shaping up VERY nicely here, we're going to be very dangerous.
