yeah X sent them a text saying "I'm staying at Kansas and that's final."

Kentucky, to nobody's surprise, is still expected to be the school to beat for Mike Gilchrist. But according to his mother he loves Villanova as well and those two seem to be at the top of the list. It's obviously still unlikely he comes to Nova, but that would be awesome.

Similar thing with Syracuse and James McAdoo and LaQuinton Ross. Very random players for Syracuse to interest from (geographically at least) but who knows... When it comes to Gilchrist, I don't think any school is the team to beat for a kid who has two years of HS left. Maybe if this was the summer before his senior year...maybe.

I take that back, just saw that Gilchrist's infamous unc is "Worldwide". Kentucky seems obvious now, my bad.

Yup, Memphis was obvious for awhile and now with the kinds of players Cal is bringing into Kentucky they should have a significant amount of success too so something major seemingly would need to happen for him to land anywhere else.

Gotta say I'm pretty confident for Gilchrist. Pretty nice to know too given almost every recruiting analyst calls him the best player in HS regardless of grade.

Hope we start bringing in players for the '10 class here shortly. We'll be in need of a starting PF probably as well as someone to compete for minutes at SG.

Any thoughts on the destination for Fab Melo?

I know Louisville and UConn found him early but Syracuse got a visit from him last month and they are currently finishing their new basketball practice facility known as "The Melo Center"

Looking good for Louisville is the most I've been able to take in.

This guy at Dime Magazine seems to think it would be a good idea for incoming freshman to be like a FA system where colleges pay for their commitment... Talk about all time bad ideas lol. Seriously, it would without a doubt favor UK but come on.

If you feel like wasting some time, here's the link.

Well, not just UK, it would favor any "basketball school" with deep pockets. So add Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisville, maybe Memphis, and Connecticut.

Throw in a school like UNLV or USC that may not have the "winning tradiition" but have a TON of deep pocketed boosters

Smells like he could not qualify academically...

people forget Jennings left because his SAT score got flagged as suspicious.

Jeremy Tyler first to go to Europe without an academic reason behind it.

Right, but you'd still figure that he'd end up somewhere playing at a higher level than in China. Tyler and Jennings both ended up playing in pretty solid leagues overseas, but I'm not sure that the competition in China is anywhere near Euroleauge teams. If his goal is to play in the NBA (which presumably it is) you'd think he could find a deal to play somewhere in Europe and prepare himself a little better.

The biggest difference better jennings/ tyler and williams is that sonny Vaccaro isnt involved with this one. sonny played the agent role for both, representing them in talks and trying to get them the best spot possible. williams tried to do this himself, and being that he isnt a top player, this is the place most interested.

Fair enough, but that doesn't change the fact that China may not be the best place for Williams to sell NBA teams on his ability. It's unfortunate he can't play somewhere else like Europe or college where he would probably have a better shot of landing in the league.

I'm liking Duke's chances with him. It's gotta be either Duke, KU or UNC.

UK is getting in good with Brandon Knight and Adrien Payne. We'll hopefully be able to put together a top 5 class this year. In 2011 we've got to be the easy favorites for the best class with Gilchrist hopefully coming.

There have been accounts of pickups games with our new recruits and some video... Wall/Bledsoe/Cousins are just FILTHY. Wall could be the best PG in college basketball next year as a freshman, key word being could.
