Can someone please explain to me the rationale behind bricking the 2nd FT?
It makes absolutely no sense to me.
It makes perfect sense if its a 1 point game and the time is like it was in this game, under 5 seconds. The team with the ball is going to be taking a 3, so a 2 point lead does nothing for you. Might as well give yourself a shot at an offensive rebound and running some time off the clock.
If MSU gets the reb, game over. Time goes off the clock.
Yes, but why have 1 player going for a rebound then? Not to mention the odds of getting an offensive rebound off a FT are already low.
So Tenn. is most likely getting the rebound, and call a timeout immediately. Whereas a make gives you 2 point lead, and only saves you about .2 seconds.
I guess they figured maybe the ball will bounce around more and waste time? But again, why only have one player down there going after the ball? No one else on MSU even tried to force a struggle for the rebound.
Man seems like Izzo literally takes every recruting class to 1 final four in their careers. Now that is a true coach unlike that man up in Lexington. Can't wait for this Baylor game. Have not been this nervous since that final four against UConn. Either way I'm proud of what Duke has done this season.
