I know it was just Lafayette (I haven't had a 'Nova post all year so this is really a reaction to the first 4 games this season), but I just got back from the game and this is Villanova's most physically talented team since I've been here. It's not even close. So many more big, athletic guys than we've ever had. If things come together and they keep playing good defense and not fouling when the competition improves, they'll be scary good. The crazy part is they're not even shooting well, I'm used to Villanova teams that used to have to pop threes all game to stay in it. If that comes together, watch out. Really interesting to see how things go when the competition gets tougher in NY next week. Big step up from the teams they've played thus far, though BU should be solid in their conference this year.

I don't really know what is up with him.. inconsistency? When he plays well he does EVERYTHING well but those games are hard to come by. I didn't get to see how he played but I have seen him enough to see that he can turn the ball over quickly. On the other hand he has great size, long arms and plays decent defense with a nice mid range and occasionaly long range shot. Kendall Marshall had 9 assists in limited PT the other night and should get more minutes, maybe the starting role if things get sloppy. He always finds the open man.

Ben McLemore is supposedly going to announce today and sign in the spring...I'm sure our KU fans are excited about him potentially landing there. Seems like there's a good chance that happens.
Looking forward to G'town/NC State today, should be an interesting one with all of the freshmen they have down in Raleigh.
Also, failed to mention in my 'Nova post that, up almost 30 in the second half, Jay briefly experimented with a Dominic Cheek, Isaiah Armwood, Antonio Pena, Mouphtaou Yarou, Maurice Sutton lineup. For those not familiar with Villanova hoops, that's 6'5/6'6, 6'7/6'8, 6'8, 6'10, and 6'11. Four guard lineup be damned! Jay's got some size now. Cheek actually looked alright running the point too, the lack of a secondary ball handler was the issue there.

John Henson just came about 2 feet short on a free throw. This North Carolina team looks extremely overrated so far, down by 10 to Vandy in the first half.

Casey Mitchell is putting on a show right now, already has 16 points. Finally living up to his potential.

They're ranked where they are because they've got a ton of talent on that basketball team. There's no doubting that. But it's a team where the sum of the parts is a lot better than the whole right now. If UNC can find a point guard and learn to play as a team that would help them quite a bit. They've got a bunch of players who are very talented, particularly physically, but they're just not a very good basketball team right now. That could change, we'll see. Makes them very frustrating, because a basketball team that's greater than the sum of its parts is a really nice thing to watch.

Gophers take the Puerto Rico Tipoff. Really liking what I see from this team so far. Trevor Mbakwe is better than I ever imagined, he's a first team all big 10 candidate. Amazing mobility and athleticism for his size. Al Nolen probably won the game for us though, he got in the lane at will and after we put him on Casey Mitchell he took him out of the game.

Nobody cares but a nice win for Rutgers at home over Miami. Rice has these players going.

Iowa is 2-2, but we have a win over a BCS conference team!!!! Suck it Alabama!!!
(Is Bama even supposed to be good at bball?)
Also, epic showdownzzz for the Big Ten title in Ann Arbor and Iowa City this year, I'm predicting.

John Henson is still garbage and will never make it in the league. UNC still has no PG and Kendall Marshall seems like a guy who won't be a real contributor until his Junior or Senior years. UNC's chance to be good teams is for Harrison Barnes to light it up but IMO Barnes is fit as more of a 2 or 3 option not a go to scorer. He's not Kevin Durant.

Hey guys, Iowa is still new to this whole basketball thing. Is it good when your opponent is Long Beach State and they have a 20-5 edge in offensive rebounds? More directly, you as a team have 24 rebounds and your opponent has 20 offensive rebounds. Is that good?

Lol. Henson has struggled a bit and his offensive game is still pretty raw. He kinda looks like another Brandon Wright which can't be good... really long and skinny with a decent hook shot and great low post defense. Our PG situation is wierd.. Roy must not have the balls to start Kendall but it is still early. Larry hasn't really played as good as I thought he would but he SHOULD be able to run PG for us and hopefully he can get some confidence.

I don't consider this a UW loss.
1. 16 hours between games? Who does that?
2. Every call went Kentucky's way that shouldn't of.
3. This win will be vacated anyway, as half this kentucky team makes more than D-Leaguers.
4. Terrence Jones is a (expletive, your choice)
5. Coach Cal is a rat. Used to love the guy, now... not so much
/rationalization
/rant
The only "legit" point is 3. That is definitely going down soon.

Kemba Walker is a pretty cool guy.
Now that UCONN is playing well I'm actually gonna watch all the games. There goes a good chunk of free time. Now I need to acquaint myself with all the newcomers since Kemba and Oriakhi were the only guys I saw on the court who actually played last year.

Looks like MSU is going to continue on with the trend of looking extremely average during the regular season only to end up in the Final Four in the end anyway.

MSU looked pretty good. Down the stretch they looked disjointed offensively but we have 2 good perimeter defenders in Napier and Walker, and MSU refused to get the ball to Green even though he was dominating Smith. Then Green missed a ton of FTs and that was the game.
The commentators kept mentioning the high level of play from both teams. One team has Kemba Walker, the other doesn't :).

Meh, call it what you want but Chaminade also gave them a hell of a game a couple days ago, overall I haven't been impressed. Not that it will make a difference in the long run they'll be making a big run in the tournament as usual.

No need to be bitter. That was a good game between two good teams. I'm honestly a little surprised UK won it.
