I think you made more than a few stretches for the 3-4 defense. About half those seniors, if not more, are better suited for the 4-3, and there is no way someone sticks Tyson Jackson at 3-4 DE.

I agree. Jackson has ideal size for a 3-4 DE, but his pass rushing skills would be wasted at the position.

Yeah, I like how only one of those prospects is listed as being fit for the 4-3 scheme. Gholston and Ellis are the only real 3-4 OLB threats I can think of.

You could have said the same about Marcus Spears.

Jackson is going to be the Adam Carriker of next year's draft. Whether he plays DE in a 3-4 or a 4-3 all depends on which team drafts him. He can play both, and play them well. As of now, he's probably around the 4th or 5th best 4-3 DE prospect, and he's the #1 3-4 DE prospect in 2008 (if he declares).

Chris Long is more animalistic than Adam Carriker. If Crissy was not at UVA he would be getting top DE talk, but by ends year all of you will be on the bandwagon I'm sure.

just watch Vernon Gholston next year, he is going to be sick. I also like Chris Long because he really doesn't get the attention at Virginia but is talented enought to be dominant in any conference on any team

i like both of the ohio state de's. gholston is easily the top 3-4 olb prospect at this point and i think lawrence wilson will explode this year (judging by spring rumors). he has prototypical size (6'6 270) and speed (~4.7). i'd be real happy as a wolverines fan if both declared after this year.

Chris Long is a monster. Just rewatched tape of FSU vs Virginia last year. Although we handled them pretty easily Chris Long was single handidly DOMINATING. I'm basically as high on him as I am on Calias, tho Calias is more of a pass rush threat. I liked Carriker alot, but Long is better. Takes on double teams like its nothing

I need to watch more of Long, but I as of right now I like Carriker more. I see the frame to hold more weight in Carriker and I see more upper body strength. Carriker is certainly more proven as a pass rusher, although it's hard to hold that against Long due to the scheme he played in.

As a 3-4 DE I think they're about even, but until I know Long can move inside successfully, I like Carriker more.
