11. Detroit Lions

Sure, the "Fire Millen" chants continued throughout the off-season in Detroit. And yes, several fans still want to see the entire front office ousted. But that's nothing new. Matt Millen and Co. actually had a pretty darn good off-season. They got some more toys for Mike Martz's offense in Tatum Bell, T.J. Duckett, Shaun McDonald and Calvin Johnson, and tightened up the porous offensive line by trading for George Foster and bringing in Zach Piller and Edwin Mulitalo. The second round selection of local boy Drew Stanton has been lauded as well. Many experts credit Carson Palmer's rapid growth process and development to the work Jon Kitna did with him during his rookie year. Stanton could be in very good hands with Kitna and Martz. On defense, Detroit went out and got Travis Fisher and DeWayne White — two players who should make a difference. Losing Mike Williams could turn out being addition by subtraction.
Biggest gain: Calvin Johnson, WR
Biggest loss: Dre' Bly, CB
Are they in better shape than they were in January? Of course. Detroit adds a player who's been described as the best athlete in the entire draft, a few more options in the backfield, and a re-vamped offensive line. Martz did wonders with a cast of retreads last season. Now he has the weapons. Could be scary.

And those silly Bengals. Blowing their 1st overall pick on Carson Palmer when, since they had Jon Kitna, they could have taken ANY quarterback and he would have turned out to be a Pro Bowler thanks to Kitna according to this writer (basically)

We're going to be stockpiling on Top 10 talent for at least 5 more years.. Assuming we have 1 more year of Kitna, and then 4 years of Drew Stanton, until he gets released..

Well, King from SI predicted we'd win the Division last year. I think predictors love picking the Lions because if they are right, they can go around singing their own tune. Unfortunately these predictors haven't a clue and are practically wrong on almost every count.

Well it's the same thing with the Cards really... except the Cards arent such a longshot as the Lions are of course. I still think you're all being too dim... at least wait until we've gone 0-3 to start complaining...

It isnt that hard to find some moron like King, Hondo, or other local sports guy that will say the Lions look good.

Arizona has a better RB, a more promising QB, better WR's as of right now, and they went out and drafted a solid T. They have changed the D scheme, have a new head coach that will actually run the ball, and play in a division that is pretty wide open. I think thats why the national media pick Arizona to be a sleeper.

It seems that every year since the Cardinals drafted Larry Fitzgerald, they've been the popular sleeper pick.. However, I like the 49ers to take the NFC West this year

The niners look pretty good especially with the D. If Gore plays well and Smith matures that is possible. If I had to pick a winner in the division I would take Seattle, but by an eyelash. Wouldn't be surprised if the West Division winer only had 9 wins. Alexanders ankle is a big scare tho Seattle really struggles without Alexander.

I like the niners but they have a lot of free agents/draftees in very important positions, so chemistry could be a problem. Not enough to hold them under .500 though. If they dont run into any health issues they should take the west
