Certainly would rub me the wrong way. Branding is EXTREMELY important in business and involving porn stars certainly doesn't do your brand any good. Just look at BeerGate over on up the highway and down Yawkey Way. It'll take months for them to get that to go away.

I have no idea about what BeerGate is, but where I'm from we don't really react like this when some public figure poses with a porn star in a club jersey. I think it's overreacting, but I guess it's one of the many cultural differences between americans and europeans. I just can't help to be amazed, since we all know that there is absolutely no sincerity in Gronk's apology. But all of a sudden everyone is all like "OK, it's all good.". I don't get it, and I don't buy it.

...well, it's not really a big deal, but yeah, it matters. No one really cares that Gronk has a thing for porn actresses(I know for a fact that he and Fletcher went to some Playboy party up the road as well, courtesy of the radio a few weeks back), just that he's creating press for it. The Patriots in particular have worked very hard to make the games and organization a family thing, between the construction of the upper echelon shopping center around the stadium and the type of advertising they put out there. The Kraft's have done a heck of a job changing the image of football in these parts overall, something that was a bit of a problem before they got here(and Foxborough is a better quality place to live for it).

Everyone knows he wasn't apologizing for the company he keeps, but you've still got to try to make it at least look like that's not the image the organization wants to put out...because it isn't. Beyond that even, this is totally anti-Patriot Way. I'm sure BB doesn't want the team getting questions about this leading up to an important game in Pittsburgh. You simply don't see guys on this football team make those sort of headlines ever, sans maybe Brady just because of his status. Even with Brady, it's always after the year that you hear about stuff with women and dancing in Brazil. Not a peep during the year.

So yeah, obviously this isn't a big deal, but I completely get the need to spin it and bury it.
