Strengths:
A solid athlete...Adequate speed and quickness...Decent strength...A reliable tackler...Very active with a non-stop motor...Offers some versatility...Hard worker...Team leader...An excellent special teamer.
Weaknesses:
Average size and bulk...Short arms...Isn't very explosive...Not a great run defender...Needs to develop some more pass rush moves...Doesn't really bend off the edge well...Not very fluid in coverage...A 'Tweener.
Notes:
Uncle, Bobby Martin, also played at Virginia Tech from 1986 to 1989...Brother, Cam, currently plays for the Hokies...Spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy after high school...Began his college career at Norfolk State then walked on at Virginia Tech and redshirted in 2004...Played extensively in a backup role in 2005 and 2006 before taking over a starting job as a junior and senior...Could also project to outside linebacker at the next level...Bit of an overachiever with top-notch intangibles but he really doesn't have an obvious pro position...Can compete for a roster spot but, at best, profiles a backup.
