It has been a wild few weeks for the Cleveland Browns. The team acquired controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson over the weekend. I wrote about that on Saturday. The Browns now have to find a trade partner for their former franchise passer, Baker Mayfield. They also traded for star wide receiver Amari Cooper and then subsequentially released Jarvis Landy (although he may be brought back).
The Browns currently have seven draft picks. They traded their own first-round pick to Huston for Watson along with a 4th this year.
Let’s see how it plays out.
CLEVELAND BROWNS: 7-ROUND MOCK DRAFT
2-44: Perrion Winfrey, DL, Oklahoma
The Browns need a pass-rushing presence on the interior. After a dominant Senior Bowl performance, that saw him win the game’s overall MVP, Perrion Winfrey showed he could be that guy. His athletic profile is incomplete, however, the tape may be enough to justify the Cleveland Browns pulling the trigger at 44.
3-78: Khalil Shakir, WR, Boise State
Shakir is a sure-handed, savvy route runner that could give the Browns a threat over the middle. Shakir was great at the Senior Bowl and tested phenomenally. He would be a great target for their new QB.
3-99: Amare Barno, EDGE, Virginia Tech
Barno is a blazing edge rusher who ran a 4.36 forty at the combine. He also had a 37-inch vertical and a 10’11” broad jump. Barno was more productive for the Hokies as a junior but he still has untapped potential.
THE REST OF THE DRAFT
4-118: J.T. Woods, S, Baylor
6-202: Kyron Johnson, LB, Kansas
7-223: Sterling Weatherford, S, Miami (OH)
7-246: Austin Allen, TE, Nebraska
