The Miami Dolphins just missed the playoffs and then parted ways (controversially) with head coach Brian Flores. Now, former 49ers OC Mike McDaniel is in charge of putting the pieces back together.
The Dolphins currently have eight draft picks. They traded their own first-round pick to Philadelphia on draft day last year to move up for Jaylen Waddle. The Fins have the 49ers’ first round selection because of a trade prior to the 2021 draft.
I used the Mock Draft simulator from NFL Mock Draft Database. For this simulation, I used the consensus big board accumulated by NFL MDD, with the realistic draft mode setting.
Let’s see how it plays out.
MIAMI DOLPHINS: 7-ROUND MOCK DRAFT
1-29: Tyler Smith, OT, Tulsa
The Dolphins have to make a decision. Do they move Liam Eichenberg inside and play former first round pick, Austin Jackson? Regardless, they should be looking to upgrade the right tackle spot in some form. The former Tulsa product tested at an elite level at the combine and is rising up draft boards. He is an aggressive blocker on tape.
2-50: Skyy Moore, WR, Western Michigan
This pick is seemingly a luxury/BPA pick for Miami after signing Cedrick Wilson and re-signing Preston Williams. Selecting Moore could put Devante parker on notice. The WMU pass catcher was highly productive in the MAC in 2021.
3-102: Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State
The Dolphins have signed Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds in free agency but that shouldn’t stop them from adding another. White is one of the best pass catching backs in this class.
THE REST OF THE DRAFT
4-121: Dohnavan West, C, Arizona State
4-125: Mike Rose, LB, Iowa State
5-158: Jeremiah Moon, EDGE, Florida
6-200: Spencer Burford, OT, UTSA
7-224: Dontario Drummond, WR, Mississippi
