The New England Patriots made the playoffs last season for the first time after Tom Brady departed. Now they look to continue to build their roster around second-year passer Mac Jones.
New England has a total of seven selections during the 2022 NFL Draft.
I used the Mock Draft simulator from NFL Mock Draft Database. For this simulation, I used the consensus big board accumulated by NFL MDD, with the realistic draft mode setting.
Let’s see how it plays out.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: 7-ROUND MOCK DRAFT
1-21: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
The Patriots have a few decent receivers but they lack that true #1 threat. Olave is a highly productive pass catcher and a superb route runner. He also has sub-4.4 speed. Olave would give Jones a more capable target than he currently has with Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.
2-54: Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming
New England traded for MLB Mack Wilson but he didn’t set the world on fire during his stint in Cleveland. Muma is a perfect three-down linebacker for the Patriots and Bill Belichick. He can run, he can tackle, and he can cover. Muma will be wearing the green dot helmet for a long time.
3-85: Jalyn Armour-Davis, CB, Alabama
Armour-Davis was a one-year starter for Alabama but got injured late in the year. He has limited tape but you can clearly see the upside. Belichick has the ear of his former defensive coordinator Nick Saban. I expect the intel will come back positive.
THE REST OF THE DRAFT
4-127: Dominique Robinson, EDGE, Miami (OH)
5-170: Jaylen Watson, CB, Washington State
6-200: Kolby Harvell-Peel, S, Oklahoma State
6-210: Adam Anderson, EDGE, Georgia
