The Chicago Bears have traded the #1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers for
#9 overall
#61 overall
2024 1st
2025 2nd
WR DJ Moore
The Panthers are obviously moving up to the #1 overall pick for a Quarterback. The likely candidate is Ohio State QB CJ Stroud who put on a show passing the football at the NFL Combine. Alabama’s Bryce Young, Florida’s Anthony Richardson, and Kentucky’s Will Levis could also be possibilities at the top pick for them.
The Panthers will need to add to their receiving group with Terrace Marshall leading the room now. Expect them to address it with pick #39.
The Bears add not only draft picks but a #1 WR for Justin Fields giving them a receiving group of DJ Moore, Chase Claypool, Darnell Mooney, and Cole Kmet. This gives them a great young offensive group and the ability to add to their team going forward with additional high draft capital for the next few years. The Bears will be a hot team to track over the next few NFL Drafts, and are obviously sticking with Justin Fields for the next few years. The Bears should still get an elite defensive player at #9 or a rock-solid LT to protect Fields. The odds were high for the Bears to select Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but with the DJ Moore addition, that is likely out.
This will be a hot topic in mock drafts and NFL Draft discussions moving forward. Be on the lookout for our mock draft coming out Monday reflecting the trade and all the changes to the NFL Draft. We will be updating the NFL Draft Order here and talking about this on our podcast below.
