2024 NFL Draft Questions Marks

NFL Draft Main Image

With less than a week from the 2024 NFL Draft, we’ve all been putting on our best GM hats and conjecturing each team’s moves! Aside from some presumable smoke screens, there are burning questions that we can hardly wait for-especially during round one! Let’s take a look below.

I am going to call my shots for each looming draft question as well! Let’s book it and see how I fare on April 25.

2024 NFL Draft Questions Marks

When will Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix get drafted? After what is expected to be a quarterback-heavy 3-4 rounds depending on teams who may or may not trade up for JJ McCarthy. Penix and Nix are considered “probably nots” in round one. Based on their ages alone, it is likely they do fall to day two or three of the draft with the likes of Spencer Rattler, Joe Milton, etc.

Prediction: Penix will go to Las Vegas and Nix will go to Denver. If one were to go in round one, I’d say Nix to Denver based on him being a good fit in a Sean Payton offense; not to mention, a tired quarterback room.

Arizona’s pick is…

With a deep receiver class, there has been some speculation that Arizona could trade back and gain valuable draft capital. This would mean passing on Marvin Harrison Jr. who is widely regarded as the top receiver in this class. Because the Cardinals have many team needs, drafting back and ending up with a guy like Rome Odunze or Brian Thomas Jr. does not seem like the worst idea.

Prediction: Arizona trades back with Minnesota (JJ McCarthy) and MHJ ends up a Charger a 1.05.

Who will snag JJ McCarthy and will it require a team to move up?

See above! I do think this one could go many ways- Giants, Vikings, Raiders, Broncos, and other QB-needy teams all have the potential here.

Prediction: Minnesota trades up with Arizona and secures their QB of the future.
Brock Bowers, The Tight End Belle of the Ball

Top ten pick or nah? It all comes down to one team: the New York Jets.

Prediction: I don’t think the Jets go in on Brock Bowers-mainly from the Rodgers perspective. Bowers may still go in the first round, but not inside the top ten.

Washington’s big decision

The Commanders’ QB narrative has pretty much come down to volleying back and forth between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. It was reported just days before the draft that Washington executives took out a handful of potential suitors to a Topgolf outing.

Prediction: Based on Kliff Kingsbury’s history, Jayden Daniels seems to best encompass his style of quarterback. I am definitely calling the second overall pick to be Daniels. The dual-threat, out of LSU.

Other News and Rumors
  • Speaking of smoke screens. There was a foolish report weeks ago regarding star wide receiver Malik Nabers. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the first-round prospect was described as high maintenance (you mean a soon-to-be wide receiver in the NFL?). He also warned of off-field concerns despite no concrete details.
  • Another receiver’s name being thrown out potentially by design- was Texas wideout Adonai Mitchell. An unnamed scout told Bob McGinn that teams should be weary of him as he is “uncoachable.” This was allegedly about the receiver being a diabetic and needing extra medical care throughout the season to ensure his health.
  • The team associated with the largest range of rumors has been the New England Patriots. There are reports on their high level of interest in multiple potential quarterbacks. There are also reports of their interest in trading back in many different scenarios. Do we see a team like the Giants trading up to grab a guy like Maye or Daniels? Will New England take a guy like J.J. McCarthy?

With five days until armchair analysts get to watch everything unfold, we are all just ready to hear that classic draft jingle! Shout out all your shots at us on X: @DraftCountdown.
