2024 NFL Draft Team Walkout Songs – AFC

As teams prepare to head to the podium in just weeks, I pondered what song would play as they head out to make their first selections. A temperature check (if you will) based on where the team currently stands or what they most need! After hours of Spotify and my radio of a brain, I’ve come up with a song that best encapsulates each AFC team. Check it out!

2024 NFL Draft Team Walkout Songs – AFC

Baltimore: “Thriller” by Michael Jackson

‘Cause this is thriller, thriller night

And no one’s gonna save you from the beast about to strike’

Lamar Jackson is already electric enough, but now Baltimore has added King Henry to the mix. This will be thrilling football, to say the least, and would be a FUN song to celebrate their hopes for a big season ahead.

Buffalo: “Quit Playing Games With my Heart” by the Backstreet Boys

‘Quit playing games with my heart

I should have known from the start’

The Bills always look ready to take on the postseason, but cannot conquer playoff Mahomes. It definitely plays with the hearts of Bills Mafia. With a few key pieces added to their roster through the draft, could this be a year they finally prevail?

Cincinnati: “So Fresh, So Clean” by Outkast

‘Ain’t nobody dope as me

I’m just so fresh, so clean’

Replace ‘clean’ with ‘healthy’ and the Bengals are singing a song for their franchise quarterback, Joe Burrow!  Cincy did lose some key pieces in free agency but also added guys like Zack Moss, Trent Brown, Geno Stone, and Sheldon Rankins to name a few. These additions all span different areas of need and I expect them to come out and compete in 2024-especially with a solid draft and healthy Burrow.

Cleveland: “Without Me” by Eminem

‘Guess who’s back? Back again

Shady’s back

Tell a friend’

Next year’s success for the Browns will come down to quarterback play and it is critical Deshaun Watson puts his money where his mouth is. In a recent discussion on his podcast “Unplugged,” he discussed his thoughts on the current status of this football team:

“We got the defense, we got the offense, we got the special teams, we got the culture, we got the fanbase, we got everything to do it.”

He is right in that they have the personnel and coaching staff to make another run at the playoffs. Will he return to the old Watson form under center? We will have to wait and see; nevertheless, Watson will be back whether folks like it or not.

Denver: “Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2

‘Where the streets have no name

Where the streets have no name

We’re still building, then burning down love’

The Denver quarterback room consists of Ben NiDucci and Jarrett Stidham (?). These are not necessarily the names you want to hear on your QB depth chart. This clearly points to a draft selection this time with the input of Sean Payton on their next go at a franchise guy. They have certainly built up only to burn down a bit (Wilson fiasco) so this upcoming draft is bigger than ever.

Houston: “We Takin’ Over” by DJ Khaled

‘Come around and try and stomp on our ground

Cause we takin’ over, one city at a time’

What they did last year under rookie QB CJ Stroud and first-year HC DeMeco Ryans was remarkable. Houston is building something special. Their free agency included the additions of stars Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, and Joe Mixon as they look to pursue a trip to the AFC Championship next year and take over as the conference’s top dog.

Indianapolis: “Higher” by Creed

‘Can you take me higher?

To a place where blind men see?

Can you take me higher?

To a place with golden streets?’

Despite an earlier-season injury to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, Shane Steichen was able to steer the Colts to a 9-8 record. Indy owns seven picks in the draft and will ask the team, and specifically A-Rich if he can take them higher. My gut says he can based on what we saw before he was sidelined.

Jacksonville: “Happy” by Pharrell

‘Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine

No offense to you, don’t wanna waster your time, here’s why

Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof (because I’m happy)’

Doug Pederson has to be quite happy with DUVALLLL’s offseason so far as they had a very active free agency. Intent on securing the interior lines on both sides of the ball, Trevor Lawrence looks to capitalize and quiet his haters despite the loss of receiver Calvin Ridley.

Kansas City: “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish

‘I’m that bad type, make your mama sad type

Make your girlfriend mad tight

Might seduce your dad type

I’m the bad guy’

This one makes too much sense. After winning back-to-back Super Bowls, the Chiefs knowingly have a target on their backs. They are the modern-day Brady-led Patriots. Who do they take at 1.32 to join the bad guys?

Las Vegas: “Feels Good” by Tony! Toni! Tone!

‘Cause I’m so into you and you know it feels good

To know that you’re there by my side

It feels good’

Despite a dicey quarterback situation, Raiders nation is elated that they retained Antonio Pierce as their head coach after the post-McDaniels firing. Their biggest addition in free agency was Christian Wilkins who joins megastar Maxx Crosby on defense. With some help in the draft, this AFC West dark horse could do some damage.

Los Angeles Chargers: “I Will Fix You” by Coldplay

‘Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you’

Jim Harbaugh to the rescue! Nearly all Chargers fans were relieved by the firing of former Head Coach Brandon Staley. With the reigning NCAA Champ-leading coach coming to fix this team, he sets the bar high. Can Harbaugh accomplish a run with an aging roster? This draft is going to be extra important to Los Angeles as they look to utilize Herbert in his prime.

Miami: “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips

‘Don’t you know, things can change

Things’ll go your way if you hold on for one more day’

The Fins are holding on to Tua (with a big contract extension expected) and the dream of elevating their play in 2024. Both sides of the ball were quite riddled with injury so if their stars can stay healthy, I’d expect a better season on deck. Can they make it past the Wild Card round and, more importantly, can they beat good teams in the regular season? Mike McDaniel and his guys are going to be under the microscope.

New England: “Dream Lover” by Mariah Carey

‘I need a lover to give me the kind of love that’ll last always’

Maybe they don’t stumble upon another Tom Brady situation, but they do need a quarterback to come and rescue this team as it begins a new era with Jerod Mayo at the helm. They can at least do better than Mac Jones who was disappointing, to say the least. New England has a big decision to make in the draft at position 1.03.

New York Jets: “Strong Enough” by Sheryl Crow

‘I make the rules up as I go

Just try and love me if you can

Are you strong enough to be my man?’

GM Joe Douglas and Head Coach Robert Saleh have to be wondering if Aaron Rodgers is physically AND mentally strong enough to bounce back from his Achilles injury to lead Gang Green to the promised land. He sure talks a big game so this time we see what he can do when he gets more than three snaps in the season. They had a nice free agency and held on to seven picks in this year’s NFL Draft.

Pittsburgh: “Under Pressure” by Queen

‘This is our last dance, this is our last dance

Under pressure’

Omar Khan took a leap of faith on, not one, but two quarterbacks during free agency: Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. It has been made evident that Wilson will be QB1, but they have a little bit of pressure to crush the upcoming draft and make some waves in 2024 with Mike Tomlin still hanging around.

Tennessee: “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes

‘And I scream from the top of my lungs

What’s going on?’

Is everyone else still a little stunned by the firing of Mike Vrabel? Also, we have yet to see which direction this team is moving and what their identity will be as we move through draft season and beyond. We can’t all help but sit here and scratch our heads and ask what the hell is going on.
