The regular season for College and NFL is upon us, and I don’t know about you but I’m pumped to see the next crop of college players and how they set themselves apart leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. Like I did last year, I wanted to list the top 20 quarterbacks I’ll be watching to see how they do this upcoming college season. To help you see how I have them ranked, I wanted to break them into tiers, as I don’t think there’s a clear top quarterback, or even top 2-3 quarterbacks as it stands today.
2025 NFL Draft – Top Quarterbacks
Tier 1 – Fighting for the top spot
Carson Beck – Georgia
Jalen Milroe – Alabama
Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss
Quinn Ewers – Texas
NOTES: Beck has all the tools to be the top QB in the draft, and if this season plays out like most think, we could see him being one of the top names off the board. He’s got the size teams will love but you’d typically view him more of a player to stay in the pocket than to try and make the big play with his legs. Milroe is quite the opposite, he’s got the mobility that could get teams to view him more as a “dual-threat” QB but he’s got a big arm and the willingness to take shots downfield that I think teams will fall in love with.
Tier 2 – They could get to the top
Shedeur Sanders – Colorado
Conner Weigman – Texas A&M
NOTES: Sanders is extremely divisive, I tend to be on the side of those who are going to let someone else take a shot at him at the pro level. The questions that will be hard to answer are related to his passion for the game, will, and desire to be the best and be the leader a team will need him to be if they make him their franchise quarterback. Weigman is a guy who has good zip on the ball and a lot of the tools you’re looking for in your quarterback, and with a good season of production, has the potential to move into 1st round consideration for a team in need next year.
Tier 3 – They had potential at one point
Drew Allar – Penn State
Riley Leonard – Notre Dame
Cameron Ward – Miami
Kyle McCord – Syracuse
Miller Moss – USC
Will Howard – Ohio State
NOTES: Riley Leonard is a guy I’ve been a fan of for a couple of seasons now. I think he could turn things around with a solid season at Notre Dame. I think of the QBs on this list, he’s shown the most in terms of leading a team on the field and making the most of what he’s had around him talent-wise. Leonard has sneaky speed at his size. And has the arm talent to play at the next level. I still have hopes to see him go on day two next year.
Tier 4 – They round out my top 20…
Mark Gronowski – South Dakota St.
Dillon Gabriel – Oregon
Seth Henigan – Memphis
Noah Fifita – Arizona
Garrett Nussmeier – LSU
Cade Klubnik – Clemson
Grayson McCall – NC State
Dequan Finn – Baylor
NOTES: If you’ve followed this site for any length of time, you saw me talk about Dequan Finn (formerly of Toledo). I really liked this player as a fun dual-threat option and I snuck him into my top 20 because I’m excited to see what he can do in a Baylor offense but he will be facing tough competition in 2024!
