The Panini Senior Bowl slogan, “The Draft Starts In Mobile,” certainly holds true each year. Although players aren’t in full pads for the first day of practice, there is still plenty of 1-on-1 action. Prospects that can pop early and generate some buzz have the opportunity to keep it going all week. The Senior Bowl is also known for inviting lesser-known prospects from the FCS, Division 2, and Division 3 conferences. While they may not be well-known, they still seem to showout every year. This year, John Carroll WR Ty Montgomery, a Division III player, was an early standout in practice.
John Carroll WR Ty Montgomery is generating buzz at the 2026 Senior Bowl
Montgomery has only been playing football for 2 years went to John Carroll as a basketball player!
You can see the agility, athleticism, and release! Plays bigger than his size!

Looking at his stats, it’s easy to see why the Senior Bowl invited Ty Montgomery. The 5′ 11″ wide receiver made plays for John Carroll all season long. In addition to his receiving stats, he also contributed on the ground. Montgomery rushed for 104 yards on 7 carries. That’s 14.9 yards per attempt.
Day two of practice at the Senior Bowl is the most key. Not only is this the first practice in full pads, but it’s also the one that’ll have the highest attendance. In the past, players have departed Mobile following the day two practice.
However, I don’t think that’ll be the case for Ty Montgomery at the Senior Bowl. I think he’ll be here for the rest of the week, putting everything he can on tape. By the way, this includes the Senior Bowl game on Saturday.
You can watch John Carroll WR Ty Montgomery and others showcase their skills daily on ESPN or the NFL Network at 2:30 PM EST. Additionally, you can watch the Senior Bowl itself on Saturday, January 31st at 2:30 PM EST on NFL Network.
