As an NFL Scout, it’s easy to spot the top talent. Whether it’s Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith or Texas OT Trevor Goosby, their effort on tape pops immediately. However, as you get down the board, that’s when the scouts begin to earn their money. From guys who are buried down the depth chart to inconsistent performances, these are the players that are harder to spot. Here at Draft Countdown, we’ve watched the tape and have five underrated prospects that are worth keeping an eye on in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Shadre Hurst, IOL, Houston
Hurst transferred to the University of Houston this offseason, reuniting with head coach Willie Fritz. Last season, Hurst was responsible for only 7 pressures on the QB and allowed one sack. This season, he’s been near-perfect. In three seasons at Tulane, Shadre Hurst was responsible for only 25 total pressures on the QB and one sack. Currently, Shadre Hurst is ranked 227th in the Consensus Big Board on the NFL Mock Draft Database. If he continues to play as strong as he has through two games this season, he’s certain to improve his 2027 NFL Draft stock.
Brett Norfleet, TE, Missouri
I wrote this piece on Norfleet last season, expecting him to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Instead, he returned to Missouri for his senior season. He scored a team-best five receiving touchdowns last year for the Tigers. Inconsistency has been a battle for Brett Norfleet throughout his collegiate career. However, if he’s able to turn the corner and come into his own, he could be a late-round prospect worth keeping an eye on in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Cole Sullivan, LB, Michigan
Similar to Shadre Hurst above, Cole Sullivan transferred to a new program for the 2026 season. Last season, Cole Sullivan was voted as one of Michigan’s most-improved players on defense. With a shot at increased playing time, he instead opted to transfer to the Oklahoma Sooners. As a result, he has an increased role on the Sooners’ defense. If he can capitalize on those additional snaps, he could increase his 2027 NFL Draft stock. He’s currently listed 168th in the Consensus Big Board on the NFL Mock Draft Database.
Kemari Copeland, DT, Virginia Tech
To date, Kemari Copeland has been one of our most-viewed player profiles on the website. He’s had a bit of a slow start to the season, but for what it’s worth, Pro Football Focus has graded both of his games rather well. If he can put together some stronger performances, or match his 47 total tackles from last season, he should improve his draft stock. Currently, Kemari Copeland is 161st in the Consensus Big Board on the NFL Mock Draft Database.
Deuce Alexander, WR, Mississippi
One name that isn’t getting enough love is Mississippi WR Deuce Alexander. He spent his first two seasons at Wake Forest before joining the Ole Miss Rebels in 2025. He finished the 2025 campaign with 684 receiving yards. Through two games this season, he’s already at 235 receiving yards and has matched his two touchdowns from last year. Currently, he’s not listed in the Consensus Big Board on the NFL Mock Draft Database. However, with a big matchup coming against Lane Kiffin and LSU, this could be the exposure that his draft stock needs.
