Since I began covering the NFL Draft in 2013, my goal has been to create a reliable NFL Draft Grading Scale. It’s been a long process, with even more testing to develop this scale. After plenty of testing, I’m ready to announce that the Draft Countdown NFL Draft Grading Scale is ready to be implemented on the website.

How Are NFL Draft Prospects Scored In The Draft Countdown Grading Scale?
Each of the 11 major position groups has 8 graded parameters. Each parameter is weighted based on the importance for the position. For example, a quarterback’s accuracy is much more important than mechanics and release consistency. Therefore, accuracy is worth more points. However, grades also vary more widely for each trait, meaning NFL Draft prospects are penalized more for lower grades.
The eight graded traits combine to form the prospect’s cumulative grade. We then rank players by grade.
How Will We Use The Draft Countdown NFL Draft Grading Scale?
This year, we introduced our 2027 NFL Draft Prospect Profile and Scouting Reports. Throughout the upcoming pre-draft process, we’ll be implementing these draft scores into more of our content. From scouting reports to big boards, the Draft Countdown NFL Draft Grading Scale will appear in plenty of website content.
