4. Scouting Notes
Background Profile
Emmanuel Oyebadejo’s journey to the SEC is completely unprecedented. Born in Manchester, England, he grew up playing soccer before a massive growth spurt transitioned him to basketball, where he represented the Great Britain U-16 and U-18 national teams.
He didn’t begin playing American football until 2023, when he joined the University of Exeter’s club team while attending medical school. After sending his highlight tapes stateside, he enrolled at Jacksonville State in 2024.
After missing his first year with an injury, he erupted for 4.5 sacks in 2025 and earned First-Team All-CUSA honors. One of the most coveted defensive linemen in the transfer portal, he committed to the Florida Gators for the 2026 season to prove his raw physical tools against elite SEC competition.
Key Strengths
- Incredible Frame & Length: At 6’7″ and 295 pounds, his wingspan and sheer size are rare traits. He uses his long arms to lock out blockers, control the point of attack, and swat down passes at the line of scrimmage (7 career pass breakups in 16 games).
- High-End Athletic Background: His time as an international basketball player translates directly to his fluid footwork, lateral agility, and explosive lower-body power on the gridiron.
- Rapid Ascendancy: After only a few years of organized American football, his developmental trajectory is staggering. His raw physical tools are rapidly translating to highly productive on-field dominance.
Developmental Focus
Because of his limited football experience compared to his Power Four peers, NFL evaluators will look for continued refinement in his hand usage and pass-rush counters. Learning to consistently play with a low pad level will be critical, as his 6’7″ frame naturally invites leverage issues against shorter, stockier SEC offensive linemen.
