Owens arrived in College Station as a highly touted five-star recruit and a top-ranked running back prospect in his class out of El Campo High School in Texas. During his prep career, he amassed an incredible 7,000 rushing yards and 100 touchdowns. As a true freshman in 2023, he made an immediate impact, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors by leading all SEC true freshmen with 743 all-purpose yards.
Unfortunately, his 2024 sophomore campaign was derailed by a foot injury sustained during fall camp, limiting him to just two appearances late in the season. Owens bounced back in a big way during the 2025 season, reclaiming his role as a primary offensive weapon by appearing in 12 games and averaging an impressive 5.4 yards per carry, finishing with 639 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
