We are almost done with 1/2 of the 2025 NFL season as we head into November this week. I thought it might be a good time to post a mid-season All-Rookie team in this week’s Tuesday Morning Pigskin.
Tuesday Morning Pigskin – 10/28/25
In Memoriam
But first, I want to mention the sad news that some very fine former NFL players passed away last week. It was a tough week for the NFL family, which lost two of its alumni at way too early ages.
RB DOUG MARTIN, who made his mark with the Buccaneers. A short, solidly built player, he was a 2012 First Round Draft Pick by the Buccaneers, who set an NFL Rookie record with 1454 yards rushing in his rookie season. He passed away last week at age 36.
NICK MANGOLD passed away at age 41, of a congenital kidney disease. He recently announced he needed a kidney transplant, but a matching donor was not identified in time. Mangold was drafted in Round One of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played all 11 years as a pro, all of them with the JETS.
May they both Rest In Peace, in a better place.

Other Rookie Notes
I also wish to make a couple of comments on specific players who just missed this team.
CAM WARD QB TITANS/Miami-FL
Ward has left little doubt that he has starting potential for an NFL team, but the chaos of the current TITANS organization is holding his development back. I just wanted to mention him because in no way would I consider him a bust, after being selected No. 1 overall in the last Draft.
The 2 following players would have seemed to be rising fast until injuries sent them to IR for the season.
CAM SKATTEBO RB GIANTS/Arizona State
CAM was coming on strong, in conjunction with DART as the GIANTS’ starter at QB. His talent and his energy mark him as a potential star at the RB position. But for now, he’s beginning a rehab program on his injured knee that keeps him off the field until sometime in 2026..
JOSH SIMMONS OT CHIEFS/Ohio State
Simmons battled back from a knee injury to win the starting LT slot with the Chiefs’ Offense. But he is working on an injury that has sidelined him for now.
I would also like to add that when we revisit this All-Rookie team at season’s end, I would expect to see some names shuffled on and off the current list.
COLLEGE QUICK HITS
Just in case you were camping out in a tent in the wilderness this past weekend, college football has another “fired” head coach, at the cost of a multi-million dollar buyout. The often rather “odd” seeming marriage between BRIAN KELLY and the LSU football program ended after LSU got mauled in their own stadium, 49-25, by the unbeaten TEXAS A&M Aggies, last Saturday night.
I also wanted to turn your attention to an unheralded young QB who was not near the top of any pre-season highly ranked Draft prospects for 2026. His name is HAYNES KING, and he is the multi-purpose leader of the undefeated, 8-0, Rambling Wrecks from the Georgia Tech football team.
He stands 6’3/215 and wears No. 10 if you care to watch some highlight film of his work this season. Last weekend, he led his team to a 41-16 victory over Syracuse. He threw for 346 yards, going 29/46, 63%, with 3 TD passes and 1 INT. He also ran for a 4th TD. Lest you think he’s a late bloomer, I would point out that last season at Tech, he completed his passes at a 72.9% rate for 14 TD and only 2 INT, while also rushing for 587 yards, which included another 11 TD. He’s moved into my Top 100 Prospect list, and I could see him as early as Round 2 if he keeps his current level of play up. I would also expect him to post some solid workout numbers at the next Combine.
Cheers y’all.
