Every Saturday gives us answers, but it also creates brand-new questions for the draft cycle. Welcome to the Tuesday Morning Heat Check, where we evaluate the tape from the weekend’s action—cutting through box-score hype to spotlight college prospects who elevated their draft stock against top-tier competition and those who took a hit.
Tuesday Morning Heat Check: Week 0 NFL Draft Stock Risers & Fallers
Stock Risers (The Heat Check)
1. Beau Pribula, QB — Virginia
-
Game/Opponent: vs. NC State
-
Stat Line / Key Metric: 9/11 for 155 yards and 2 TDs, 15 carries for 110 yards
-
The Film Take:
Pribula put on a dual-threat clinic in Virginia’s dominant win over NC State. He posted an efficient passing line while punishing defenders on the ground. Pribula is a good athlete, a better runner than passer, but throws well on the run. He is showcasing the modern mobility and off-platform playmaking NFL decision-makers covet.

Draft Projection Impact:
Moving from: UDFA ➔ Day 3 Conversation
2. Jeremy Payne, RB — TCU
-
Game/Opponent: vs. North Carolina
-
Stat Line / Key Metric: 25 carries for 142 yards, 5 receptions for 27 yards
-
The Film Take:
Served as a high-volume centerpiece of the offense, displaying impressive durability and dual-threat versatility. He racked up 169 total scrimmage yards on 30 touches. The rest of the TCU offense was ramshackle. However, Payne was a silver lining worth following the rest of 2026.

Draft Projection Impact:
Moving from: Not on DC watchlist ➔ Firmly on watchlist for further monitoring
Stock Fallers (Under the Microscope)
1. CJ Bailey, QB — NC State
-
Game/Opponent: at Virginia
-
Stat Line / Key Metric: 12/23 84 yards 1 touchdown; 10 carries 33 yards
-
The Film Take:
CJ Bailey started poorly against Virginia. Bailey finished poorly against Virginia. He only completed 12/23 for 84 yards and threw a pick. The Cavaliers’ defense confused him the whole game. Early sentiment is that we may be moving the Wolfpack passer to the 2028 NFL Draft ledger.
-
Draft Projection Impact:
Moving from: Overall #100 ➔ Round 5-6
2. Niki Prongos, OT — Stanford
-
Game/Opponent: vs. Hawaii
-
Stat Line / Key Metric: Did not play
-
The Film Take:
Ruled OUT for Week 0 due to an undisclosed injury. His absence forced a reshuffle along Stanford’s offensive line, moving interior lineman Fisher Anderson to starting right tackle to fill the void. Anderson later moved back to center because of another injury on the offensive line. Prongos is a redshirt senior left tackle who started all 12 games in 2025. Considered a premier tackle prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft—noted for his rare 6’7″ frame, quick feet, and upward developmental trajectory as a pass protector.
-
Draft Projection Impact:
Moving from: Late 1st round➔ No move yet until the extent of the injury is known
The Bottom Line
After only four games during week zero, Draft Countdown will be taking care of the long Labor Day weekend. During full Week 1, we will evaluate 8 games and add a total of three risers and three fallers. Or at least a total of six.
