My first two-round 2022 Mock Draft comes as we are two weeks away from Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams will square off on February 13th. We are also one day away from the unofficial start of Draft Season with the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
The draft order is set with the exception of picks 31 & 32.Â
Let’s have some fun and do some mock drafting!
FIRST ROUND
Pick | Team | Player | Explanation |
---|---|---|---|
| Jacksonville Jaguars | Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon | Hopefully, by the time you are reading this, Jacksonville has fired their GM and hired an offensive coach to maximize Trevor Lawrence. After that, the Jags take the best overall player on the board and give them a pair of tremendous bookend pass rushers. |
| Detroit Lions | Aiden Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan | The Lions sit back and take whichever of the top edge rushers that falls to them. They get the home state kid in Hutchinson who should help at the box office and help their defense. |
| Houston Texans | Evan Neal, OT, Alabama | The Texans are still without a head coach. It looks like they are going to give it a go with QB Davis Mills. So, let's protect him with the top offensive tackle in the class. |
| NY Jets | Ikem Ekwonu, OT, NC State | The Jets have tons of cap space and four picks in the top 38. Their staff will also be coaching at the Senior Bowl. They have a chance to better in a hurry. Ekwonu is the type of nasty demeanor OT that they can pair with Mekhi Becton to continue to protect Zach Wilson. |
| NY Giants | George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue | The Giants have a ton of needs but apparently they don't believe one of them is QB. With two picks in the top seven they can do some serious upgrades. George Karlaftis can be an upgrade to several spots on the NYG defensive front. |
| Carolina Panthers | Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh | Carolina gave up multiple picks and millions of dollars to find out Sam Darnold ain't it. Matt Rhule & Co. may be able to buy themselves some time with the most pro ready of all of the QBs in this class. |
| NY Giants (F. CHI) | Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State | Andrew Thomas has been solid but they still need help. Charles Cross is a tremendous athlete at tackle and will give them a pair of great bookends to protect Daniel Jones (since they decided this was a thing that they are going to keep doing). |
| Atlanta Falcons | Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas | I have no idea what the status of Calvin Ridley is but I don't think he has a future in Atlanta. I believe they will eventually move on from Matt Ryan but the value isn't here. I believe Treylon Burks is WR1 in this class. |
| Denver Broncos | David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan | I am willing to bet $$$ that the Broncos will acquire a new QB before the NFL Draft. If they still have this pick after that, they need add another pass rusher to pair with Bradley Chubb. Ojabo is a high upside player. |
| NY Jets (F. SEA) | Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame | Kyle Hamilton should not have fallen this fall but the Jets are glad he did. He is BPA and fills a significant need. |
| Washington FT | Malik Willis, QB, Liberty | The Washington (insert new nickname here) seems like the team to make the splash by taking Malik Willis. As I have said before, you can either keep Heineke or Fitzpatrick (or both) to bridge the gap until Willis is ready. |
| Minnesota Vikings | Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati | The Vikings are under new leadership at the GM position. They are likely to do a whole roster overhaul. They could go in any direction. "Sauce" Gardner could end up as CB1 by the time the process finishes up. |
| Cleveland Browns | Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State | I know the Browns will target a WR here. It just depends on which one. Garrett Wilson is the guess here. |
| Baltimore Ravens | Demarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M | The Ravens can use an interior pass rusher like Demarvin Leal. |
| Philadelphia Eagles (F. MIA) | Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia | The Eagles appear to be going all-in on Jalen Hurts. So, they can use their three first round picks to upgrade on the OL and defense. Nakobe Dean is a sideline-to-sideline tackler who can cover like a safety. |
| Philadelphia Eagles (F. IND) | Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa | Linderbaum is a top-ten talent in this class. If/when the Eagles move on from Jason Kelce, Linderbaum can do that. Either at guard or center, he is an upgrade. |
| Los Angeles Chargers | Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia | You don't see many people as athletic when they are as big as Jordan Davis. Davis is a tremendous run defender with pass rushing upside. |
| New Orleans Saints | Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State | The Saints are in a bit of upheaval at the moment and are probably headed for a purging of the roster. Olave is just a guess at this point. I have no idea where the Saints are right now. |
| Philadelphia Eagles | Derek Stingley Jr, CB, LSU | Can Stingley really fall this far? If so, he could be a steal for Philly here. |
| Pittsburgh Steelers | Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi | Roethlisberger has finally retired. Do they really believe that Mason Rudolph can be an long-term NFL starter? I would certainly think not. Corral feels like he would fit with Pittsburgh and carry them through the next ten years or so. |
| New England Patriots | Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah | The Patriots will love a LB like Lloyd who can make plays all over the field. |
| Las Vegas Raiders | Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama | Is it a risk taking a WR in round one coming off of ACL surgery? Sure it is. By all accounts, Williams surgery was a success, his ACL tear was clean, and he is ahead in his rehab schedule. This is all great for Vegas who need another WR since the one they drafted in the first two years was a moron. |
| Arizona Cardinals | Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida | The Cardinals can use an upgrade at corner. I am higher on Elam than most. |
| Dallas Cowboys | Travon Walker, DL, Georgia | Walker is a great, scheme-diverse pass rusher. |
| Buffalo Bills | Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M | The Bills will love this road grading guard who can give their running game a shot in the arm. |
| Tennessee Titans | Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia | I really love the athleticsim and speed of Channing Tindall. Is it the biggest need for the Titans? Maybe not, but they can use his talents. |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn | Is Brady retired or not? Who knows. But they need to add better cover men. |
| Green Bay Packers | Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina | Enagbare is the epitome of hustle. He converts speed to power well. GB needs a jolt off the edge. |
| Miami Dolphins (F. SF) | David Bell, WR, Purdue | Since Tua is going to be the man, give him another weapon. David Bell is a H/W/S threat who is a solid route runner. He will pair well with Jaylen Waddle. |
| Kansas City Chiefs | Andrew Booth Jr, CB, Clemson | Kansas City is determined to continue to play press man coverage all the time. May as well add another corner who excels at it. |
| Detroit Lions (F. LAR) | Lewis Cine, S, Georgia | Lions need to ad players at several spots WR, S, everywhere else...Cine is coming off a ridiculous performance in the NCG and has become DS2 on many baords. |
| Cincinnati Bengals | Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa | The Bengals need to sign (or trade) for two OL and draft two more. An athletic OT like Penning would be perfect for them if he is still available. |

SECOND ROUND
Pick | Team | Player | Explanation |
---|---|---|---|
| Jacksonville Jaguars | Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M | |
| Detroit Lions | Drake London , WR, Southern Cal | |
| NY Jets | Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State | |
| NY Giants | Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington | |
| Houston Texans | Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State | |
| NY Jets (F. CAR) | Devonte Wyatt, DL, Georgia | |
| Chicago Bears | Bernhard Raimann, OT, Central Michigan | |
| Denver Broncos | Darrian Kinnard, OT, Kentucky | |
| Seattle Seahawks | Phildarian Mathis, DL, Alabama | The Seahwaks are at a crossroads. We have no idea what the future of Russell Wilson is in Seattle. Thanks to now regrettable trade for Jamal Adams this is their first pick. Mathis upgrades their interior pass rush. He had 9 sacks rushing up the middle for the Tide this year. |
| Washington FT | Zion Johnson, G, Boston College | |
| Atlanta Falcons | Sam Howell, QB, Norh Carolina | |
| Cleveland Browns | Christian Harris, LB, Alabama | |
| Baltimore Ravens | Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota | |
| Minnesota Vikings | Cameron Thomas, EDGE, San Diego State | |
| Indianapolis Colts | Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State | The Colts lost their first-round pick in the Carson Wentz trade. Was that a good idea? If they are keeping Wentz in the lineup (and I have no reason to believe he won't be) they need to give him another WR to pair with emerging star Michael Pittman, Jr. |
| Los Angeles Chargers | Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama | |
| New Orleans Saints | Carson Strong, QB, Nevada | |
| Miami Dolphins | Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State | |
| Philadelphia Eagles | Perrion Winfrey, DL, Oklahoma | |
| Pittsburgh Steelers | Derion Kendrick, CB, Georgia | |
| Las Vegas Raiders | Quay Walker, LB, Georgia | |
| New England Patriots | Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati | |
| Arizona Cardinals | Myjai Sanders, EDGE, Cincinnati | |
| Dallas Cowboys | Daxton Hill, S, Michigan | |
| Buffalo Bills | Wan'Dale Robinson, WR, Kentucky | |
| Atlanta Falcons (F. TEN) | Josh Paschal, EDGE, Kentucky | |
| Green Bay Packers | Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin | |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M | |
| San Francisco 49ers | Ed Ingram, G, LSU | The 49ers gave up their first-round when they moved up for Trey Lance a year ago. One has to believe that Lance will be taking over next season. You need to protect him up the middle with a ox-like blocker in Ed Ingram. |
| Kansas City Chiefs | Romeo Doubs, WR, Nevada | |
| Denver Broncos (F. LAR) | Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming | |
| Cincinnati Bengals | Tariq Woolen, CB, UTSA | |
