In my seventh mock draft of the year, we will see some new names and five QBs in round one.
Let’s do some mock drafting!
**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DRAFT ORDER WAS SELECTED PRIOR TO SNF & MNF**
Pick | Team | Player | Explanation |
---|---|---|---|
| Detroit Lions | Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon | The Lions don't have a QB worth having but they chosse the browns method of building. Take the premier edge rusher and punt on the Qb position until 2023. |
| NY Jets | Derek Stingley, Jr., CB, LSU | The Jets can upgrade a great many positions. With two selections in the top 5, they can do a lot to help Robert Saleh in his second season as coach. Stingley is the top corner in the class and a true lockdown player. |
| Jacksonville Jaguars | Evan Neal, OT, Alabama | The Jags must protect Trevor Lawrence. Evan Neal is the franchise left tackle they need. |
| Houston Texans | Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi | The Texans are getting a little life out of Tyrod Taylor but they will need to address the QB position. Corral has separated himself (slightly) from the pack. |
| NY Jets (F. SEA) | Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame | The Jets take another crack at adding talent to their defense with another piece in teh secondary. Hamilton is one of the top talents this year and the only safety worthy of a first round selection. |
| NY Giants (F. CHI) | George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue | The Giants have picks back-to-back here. They can better up front on both sides. Getting Karlaftis to rush the passer and Charles Cross to help stop it are tremendous picks. |
| NY Giants | Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State | |
| Philadelphia Eagles (F. MIA) | Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia | Eagles add a potential replacement for Fletcher Cox with one of the best defensive players in the country. |
| Atlanta Falcons | Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina | Matt Ryan is washed. The Falcons have to move on. Howell has the talent but has been inconsistent this year. Is he worth a top 10 selection? |
| Washington FT | Malik Willis, QB, Liberty | The Football Team is also in need of a QB. Malik WIllis is more inconsistent than Howell but has elite arm strength and mobility. I don't think he is worth a first round pick, much less a top ten selection but here we are. |
| Philadelphia Eagles | Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas | Burks is a height, weight, speed prototype. He is the big play receiver the Eagles need. |
| Carolina Panthers | Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh | Pickett has had a tremendous senior season and has moved himself into the first round conversation. Carolina's Sam Darnold experiment went so well they had to bring back Cam Newton. They need something else. |
| Denver Broncos | Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia | Nakobe Dean is an athletic, versatile, and playmaking LB. He can help Denver immediately. |
| Miami Dolphins (F. SF) | Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa | There aren't many players rising higher than Trevor Penning over the last month. He was the first to get a Senior Bowl invite this year. Penning can upgrade the Miami OL. |
| Las Vegas Raiders | Demarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M | The Raiders take the best player available. The question is who will be the decision makers in Vegas when it happens. |
| Philadelphia Eagles (F. IND) | Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida | After Stingley, the next few corners could go off the board in any order. I am higher on Elam than I think the NFL might be. |
| Cleveland Browns | Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama | My first "surprise" pick of the first round. The Browns need a new threat at WR. Jameson Williams has emerged this season as one of the most productive and explosive WRs in the country. |
| Los Angeles Chargers | Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State | Olave gives Justin Herbert another big play weapon. |
| New Orleans Saints | Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah | The Saints will be needing to replace a lot of holes on defense. Devin Lloyd is an excellent playmaker. |
| Minnesota Vikings | Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan | This will likely be a common position pick for Minnesota going forward. An edge rusher to pair with Danielle Hunter. |
| Buffalo Bills | Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia | Tindall has been flying up my draft board about as fast as he flys around the field for Georgia. |
| Cincinnati Bengals | Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa | Is Trey Hopkins going to get back to his better self? Linderbaum would be perfect for the Bengals to either play center or right guard. |
| Pittsburgh Steelers | Carson Strong, QB, Nevada | The fifth QB to go in round one. Strong has a huge and accurate arm. However, he lacks mobility and may have some lingering injury issues. |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M | Wydermyer to replace Gronk? Sure why not. |
| Kansas City Chiefs | Drake London, WR, Southern Cal | How quickly can Drake London rehab his injury? He was a top ten pick before that. |
| New England Patriots | Ikem Ekwonu, G, NC State | Ekwonu is a bully that will fit the Patriot Way. |
| Detroit Lions (F. LAR) | Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M | Dan Campbell could use a few more knee cap biters like Kenyon Green. |
| Dallas Cowboys | David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan | Ojabo may actually get drafted higher than this. The Michigan junior has tremendous upside. |
| Baltimore Ravens | Bernhard Raimann, OT, Central Michigan | The Ravens may need another offensive tackle and the Austrian import has been ridiculously impressive this year. |
| Green Bay Packers | Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati | Add a WR or replace Kevin King? Green Bay goes with the Sauce. |
| Tennessee Titans | Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina | The Titans add another pass rusher to help out their defense. |
| Arizona Cardinals | Isiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M | Sure, why not. |
