The Atlanta Falcons are a team that needs a talent infusion in some spots. However, they could ultimately contend to win the NFC South. Most of that depends on the continued maturation of second-year passer Desmond Ridder.
Atlanta Falcons Mock Draft (2023)
I used the mock draft simulator over at NFL Mock Draft Database to simulate the results with me only picking for the Colts.
1-8: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State
Porter has the length and ball skills to be an immediate playmaker on the Falcons’ defense. Pairing him with AJ Terrell gives Atlanta a formidable duo.
2-44: B.J. Ojulari, EDGE, LSU
It feels the Falcons are in a constant state of searching for a pass rusher. Ojulari is quick off the edge and attacks the quarterback. He is a little undersized (6’2″ 248) to play a traditional defensive end role. So, Ojulari will have to make an impact standing up.
3-75: Karl Brooks, DL, Bowling Green
Brooks can be the inside to Ojulari’s outside. Brooks had double-digit sacks this year for BG. He is versatile. Brooks has the ability to line up inside of the tackle or over the center or guard.Â
4-110: Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
Boutte was once considered a lock to go in the top ten. Now I am not sure if he even gets drafted. Boutte has continued to drop the ball at every opportunity during the pre-draft process. Atlanta could take a huge swing on the talent that lies within. At pick 110, the risk is minimal.
The Rest of the Story
4-113: DeWayne McBride, RB, UAB
5-159: Trey Palmer, WR, Nebraska
7-224: Trevor Reid, OT, Louisville
7-225: Isaiah Land, LB, Florida A&M
