In my third Mock Draft of the year, I went back to a more traditional version. After three weeks of the season, we have seen quite a few surprises, including the 3-0 Arizona Cardinals. So let’s get to mocking some draft.
**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DRAFT ORDER WAS SELECTED PRIOR TO SNF & MNF**
Pick Team Player Explanation
1
NY Jets
Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
The Jets have the QB in place so they can upgrade other areas. Thibodeaux is an elite pass rusher who they hope that they can pair with a returning Carl Lawson.
2
Jacksonville Jaguars
Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame
Another team with a young QB in place. The Jags just need playmakers everywhere. There aren't many better on defense than Hamilton.
3
Philadelphia Eagles (F. IND)
Derek Stingley, Jr., CB, LSU
The Eagles have three first round selections which is great for a team that has played well early. Stingley is the top corner available and it just happens to be a need spot for the Eagles.
4
Detroit Lions
Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi
The Lions are 0-3 even though that may not all be the fault of Jared Goff. With that being said, I can see Detroit wanting to go ina different direction and Corral is the hot name right now.
5
NY Giants
Drake Jackson, EDGE, Southern Cal
I have no idea what Dave Gettleman thinks but drafting defensive players feels right. Jackson can get after the passer with quickness and power.
6
Philadelphia Eagles (F. MIA)
Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
Another pick for the Eagles and this one isn't an immediate need. They just extended Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson mans the right side. Neal has experience playing inside, so he could play there while waiting on Lane Johnson to go.
7
New England Patriots
Drake London, WR, Southern Cal
The Patriots need weapons for Mac Jones. Drake London has been impressive every week for the Trojans and continues to move up our boards.
8
Atlanta Falcons
Spencer Rattler, QB, Oklahoma
The Falcons need to move on from Matt Ryan. That much we know. Is Spencer Rattler worthy of a top ten selection anymore?
9
Houston Texans
Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina
The Texans started Davis Mills (3rd round rookie) this week. They are going to trade Deshaun Watson at some point. Howell has been on a roller coaster ride so far in 2021. Is he still worth a top ten pick?
10
NY Giants (F. CHI)
Demarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M
This also feels like a Gettleman pick. Leal is a tremendous interior rusher.
11
NY Jets (F. SEA)
Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
Get Zach Wilson a weapon. Burks can take the top of a defense as evidenced by his game against Texas A&M this past weekend.
12
Washington FT
Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M
It isn't a sexy pick but Kenyon Green is a plug and play starter at guard.
13
Minnesota Vikings
Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina
This will likley be a common position pick for Minnesota going forward. An edge rusher to pair with Danielle Hunter.
14
Pittsburgh Steelers
Adam Anderson, EDGE, Georgia
If you watched the Bengals game yesterday, you saw the Steelers record zero sacks against the Bengals without TJ Watt. They need someone else to provide a spark off of the edge.
15
Kansas City Chiefs
Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Do they NEED a wide receiver? Probably not. But Olave is a deep threat who can also line up all over.
16
Dallas Cowboys
Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
The Cowboys missed on the top corners last year and the need is still there.
17
New Orleans Saints
Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia
The Saints will have to start plugging holes that are left by aging vets. Davis is a freak athlete at 340 pounds.
18
Cleveland Browns
Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan
Speaking of freak athletes, Hutchinson fits that bill and can replace the potential rental of Jadeveon Clowney.
19
Green Bay Packers
George Karlaftis, DL, Purdue
Packers add a potential game wrecking 5 tech with the Boilermaker star.
20
Philadelphia Eagles
Devonte Wyatt, DL, Georgia
Wyatt doesn't get the attention that his teammate Jordan Davis does but he has elite traits as well.
21
Buffalo Bills
Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M
Wydermyer is just another weapon for JoshA llen and the Bills offense.
22
Tennessee Titans
Henry To'o To'o, LB, Alabama
I like To' To'o fit with the Titans as a three down linebacker.
23
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Andrew Booth, Jr., CB, Clemson
Another team that is just drafting depth. Booth broke out in 2020 and has continued his success this year for Clemson.
24
Cincinnati Bengals
Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
When it is all said and done this may be way too low for Cross. The Bengals will likely need to replace Riley Reiff at right tackle, or at the very least, bring someone in to groom if they re-sign him.
25
Baltimore Ravens
Jalen Catalon, S, Arkansas
Catalon is a safety with tremendous range who can help the Ravens immediately.
26
Los Angeles Chargers
Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
Linderbaum is the BPA available for LA at a position of need. He can be an upgrade on their interior offensive line.
27
Miami Dolphins (F. SF)
Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
The Dolphins need weapons for whoever is there QB next year. If it is Deshaun Watson (as the rumors insist) then this pick will likley belong to the Texans.
28
Carolina Panthers
Zion Nelson, OT, Miami (FL)
It seems like this is a perpetual mock draft stance for Carolina. I like Zion Nelson as a fit.
29
Denver Broncos
Christian Harris, LB, Alabama
I don't know that two LBs deserve to go in round one but I struggled who to place here for Denver.
30
Detroit Lions (F. LAR)
Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
The Lions drafted a new QB earlier and i would normally advocate drafting him a weapon. I didn't think another WR was worth a first round selection so I opted for another need position.
31
Las Vegas Raiders
Ed Ingram, G, LSU
The Raiders love big school programs and have a need on the interior offensive line.
32
Arizona Cardinals
Jordan Battle, S, Alabama
Super Bowl Champion Arizona Cardinals?! Is safety a need? Probably not but Battle is a playmaker.
