2024 NFL Draft: Updated Quarterback Rankings for December

Other

While there are still a few months until the 2024 NFL Draft, the most recent quarterback rankings have been released. As December approaches, discover where Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and the other most notable QBs rank.

Certain teams, including the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, need a quarterback with greater promise. Daniel Jones, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Tommy DeVito are all distinct variations of the same word: average. In light of this, let us examine the revised quarterback rankings in preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft.

As customary, these rankings fluctuate in response to new information and increased tape viewing. The enumeration commences immediately, with no unexpected stars at the top.

#1

Drake Maye

North Carolina Tar Heels

Two quarterbacks—Drake Maye of North Carolina and Tyrone Williams of USC—are at the helm of the 2024 NFL Draft QB class. Their skill levels are virtually identical.

Although many favored Williams, Maye is not consistently recognized as an equally formidable quarterback-one candidate. Although lacking the hyper-elite improvisational abilities exhibited by Williams, this 6’4″, 220-pound Tar Heel is a gifted athlete with exceptional arm strength, elasticity, and anticipation ability.

Maye’s only legitimate challenge to Williams earlier in the season was a lack of sound judgment. However, in recent weeks, he has produced two of his finest performances: one in which he accumulated 442 yards and three touchdowns against Syracuse and the other in which he accrued 273 yards and four touchdowns against Miami.

We’re entirely conscious of the ever-growing North Carolina sports betting.  Maye would be a no-brainer selection at this stage of the college season for those wagering on futures regarding the No.1 overall pick at the QB position.

#2

Caleb Williams

USC Trojans

Williams was destined to fail due to the exaggerated comparisons to Patrick Mahomes. However, his documented arm prowess is exceptional; only a smattering of quarterbacks in the NFL can compete with his absolute talent.

Williams possesses every quality required to establish himself as an early-career NFL quarterback of the highest caliber. Not only will his composite arm talent and hyper-elite creation capability enable him to generate enormous plays, but they will also empower him to endure adversity and prolong his plays.

Despite this, Williams is an imperfect pocket operator in addition to his ability to create generations. His short and intermediate ranges accuracy may also suffer, and his decision-making under duress may be erratic. Furthermore, his mechanical discipline is still developing.

#3

Jayden Daniels

LSU Tigers

In 2023, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has bolstered the stock of every other prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels was considered a Day 3 sleeper candidate during the summer, but he is rapidly establishing himself as a legitimate QB3 candidate.

Daniels has completed 236 327 passes (72.2%) for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions through 12 games in 2023. If those figures don’t’ impress you, he has accumulated 1,134 yards and ten touchdowns on the ground.

#4

Bo Nix

Oregon

Bo Nix has expeditiously numbed the NFL community to his Auburn struggles. He is currently more in control of his physical prowess and instincts, so he is a legitimate first-round quarterback candidate.

Nix, 6’2″ and 213 pounds, is among college’s most potent off-script quarterback and rushing threats. He is an elegant, adaptable, short-area athlete with exceptional creation ability, arm strength, and flexibility to produce propulsion away from the platform.

Nix faced Penix in the Pac-12 championship game but failed. He accepted the loss with composure, and NFL evaluators believe he has demonstrated everything necessary to be selected in the early rounds.

#5

J.J. McCarthy

Michigan

J.J. McCarthy is arguably the most divisive quarterback contender in the 2024 NFL Draft. Some analysts compare McCarthy to a “Zach Wilson of the Midwest,” whereas others are captivated by his right arm’s potential and exceptional athletic profile.

Physically, McCarthy possesses all the qualities necessary to be an outstanding NFL starter, and the glimpses of operational expansion in 2023 have been thrilling. Nevertheless, McCarthy will be expected to increase the intensity of his offense beyond what it has done in the past.

Although McCarthy may require another year to realize his capabilities, his dependable performance proved instrumental in the Wolverines’ victory over Ohio State. Next, whether he can defeat Alabama in the CFB Playoffs will be determined.

The Remaining 2024 NFL Draft Top-10 QB Rankings:

  • #6 Michael Penix Jr.

Washington Huskies

  • #7 Shedeur Sanders

Colorado Buffaloes

  • #8 Carson Beck

Georgia Bulldogs

  • #9 Michael Pratt

Tulane

  • #10 Jalen Milroe

Alabama
