Though it’s nearly a year away, many people are already getting amped up over the upcoming 2024 NFL draft picks. While there’s still a lot we don’t know, there are a few things that can be speculated with a high degree of confidence. Here’s what we know that might help you get started with your own 2024 NFL hype.
The Facts
The 2024 NFL draft is scheduled to take place in Detroit, Michigan. It will take place from April 25th to April 27th, with 256 selections over a seven-round period. Many people are marking their calendars for April of next year to get ready for the coming suspense and reveals, but many others are also getting ready for NFL draft betting, particularly those keen on making informed NFL picks. The more you understand NFL odds, the better prepared you’ll be for dominating your favorite sportsbook and taking home your own victory.
The draft and NFL odds are closely related, so it’s important to pay attention not only to who’s trading their draft picks but also to who might end up with who and how it might impact their season.
The Expectations
There have already been quite a few predictions about who’s going to get chosen, despite how far away the next draft season is. A couple of our biggest and safest picks are quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, and we’re not the only ones who consider those options to be solid. We might also expect Florida State’s Jordan Travis to go in the first or second round if he has the season that many expect him to. There are some real talented weapons at receiver this year in Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, plus star tight end Jaheim Bell.
Running back Marvin Harrison and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka are another pair of very safe choices. Both weigh 205 pounds and both have a desirable combination of agility and power that many teams are looking for.
Brock Bowers is perhaps the most valued tight end right now as he has already acquired nearly 2000 scrimmage yards and over 20 touchdowns, despite only entering college football two years ago.
If you’re looking for a desirable option at the edge to bet on, you’ll probably be best off betting on Bralen Trice. The man has shown that he is a well of unlimited stamina, and the fact that he stands at 6’4’’ weighing 260 pounds essentially makes him a force of nature in his position.
The Potential Draft Order
Knowing who’s going to get selected is important, but it can also come in handy to know who’s going to be doing the selecting, and in what order.
While it’s hard to say exactly who will go first and who last, it can still be fun to try and piece together a possible draft order, especially when it comes to figuring out which teams have the highest chances of a top draft pick.
If there’s any team most likely to get a first, or even several, top pick, the Arizona Cardinals are a strong choice to bet on. The Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers, the Tennessee Titans, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Houston Texans are, so far, all looking like safe bets as well.
These are only speculative projections, so don’t expect them to stay exactly the same by the time next April comes around.
Comparing the 2023 NFL Draft to 2024
Knowing what we know now about how the previous NFL draft went, it’s only logical to try and use this hindsight to help make better predictions about the future.
While it is too early to say, projections are looking very optimistic. Next year’s most desired quarterbacks, Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, are seen as having a lot more potential than the top quarterback picks of the last draft. The main offensive tackle picks are also looking very promising, which could mean a particularly competitive draft pick in 2024.
With other great names waiting to be selected, like Brock Bowers, Masson Smith, Jeremiah Trotter, and Kool-Aid McKinstry, there’s a good chance that a lot of teams will sweep up players who are hungry and eager to showcase their star power as soon as possible.
In contrast, the 2023 NFL draft only had a few big names that lived up to their potential. People still remember Will Anderson Jr. and Bryce Young, but most picks have faded away from the spotlight. The 2024 NFL draft seems to appear better at promising a larger roster of players who seem to have what it takes to deliver on these high expectations.
Not only that, but because there are so many more different running backs, quarterbacks, linebackers, and wide receivers this year with impressive specs and stats, it’s reasonably safe to say that the 2024 NFL draft will be a more exciting year for teams, viewers, and betters.
No matter what happens next year, you definitely don’t want to miss out on what April of 2024 has in store.
