Wide receivers in football come in all shapes and sizes. As such, there isn’t a perfect archetype in the NFL. From a big-bodied outside receiver to an undersized, twitchy slot receiver, they’ve all had success on Sundays. Houston Cougars WR Amare Thomas fits that mold as well. He’s an inside slot receiver for the Cougars who excels at gaining yardage after the catch.

Quite frankly, Houston Cougars WR Amare Thomas has exactly what NFL teams are looking for. He’s got an excellent release off the line of scrimmage, the ability to separate at the top of his route, but more importantly, he possesses the awareness to find open space in coverage. Furthermore, he is also skilled at picking up yards after the catch. He excels at maintaining his balance through contact, providing open space towards the end zone.
